You're misinformed. Study the subject. There were population exchanges after ww1.

in the 1400s the Greeks asked our protection against the Byzantine on account of the heavy taxes levied by the latter. While the going was good and the coffers were full, all was well. When finally the Ottoman started taxing them soundly, as they did every nation they administered, to support the triple fronts they had open for over a century, the Greeks along with others started shedding in the early 1800s. Also see the rise of Russian orthodoxy - you can see it still today. Hence the kinship between Greek and Russian manifesting itself in recent history in the sharing of communist ideals. End of story.
