ANKARA, Jan 11 (KUNA) -- U.S. F-16 jet-fighters arrived Thursday in Incirlik Air base in southern Turkish city of Adana after, the first time in three years.
According to Local Cihan News Agency, at least 16 F-16 jets joined by early warning system AWACS airplane, as well as tanker airplanes landed here at Incirlik coming from an American base in Germany.
An official at the U.S. embassy in Ankara announced that the planes arrived here for purpose of conducting exercises with the Turkish military in line with agreements between the two states.
Incirlik base was used as a northern recon base for American forces during the Iraqi war in 2003 and since then the base served as a logistic backup for the U.S. army.
Namik Tan, spokesman for the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also confirmed that the U.S. planes arrived for exercises' purposes. (end) tk.

If we're going to do something, it has to be soon...before dem. controlled congress puts a stop to anything sensible in the way of national defense.
See link at #79.
Democrats. The new collateral damage.
Just caught something on Fox...that Bush had told Iran to stop messing with Iraq.
Basically it's a Civil War in Islam.
Except in Iraq (different reasons), the Shiites and Sunnis coexist with no problems. Both sects loath the Wahhabis and the fundamentalist Sunnis (al Qa'eda, Moslem Brotherhood, etc.)
If an inter-war rid Islam of these (minority) factions, which is very plausible, then the WoT is won almost without us firing a shot, so to speak.
While true, being employed directly from the USA greatly decreases their sortie rate, maintenance in commission rate, and flexibility. The closer they are based to the action, the more effectively they can be used - especially in an intense campaign.
If we go to war against Iran, it will be an intense campaign.
Isn't a squadron of F-22s on the way to, or already in Okinawa? That's right near Iraq according to one war "hawk".
And I look forward to smiling after each one of them. I know you're right. Good points.
