That happens to some. But when I was in High schoold and college I was a supermarket manager and the raise in minimum wage NEVER forced me to fire anyone. I may cut hours to make budget but they basically made the same money for less work and eventually they made more money as my budget was increased. So in the end they do make more money.

I can't find Del Monte (owner of StarKist) itself, although they may be buried under a PAC somewhere. Her husband has $17 million in Del Monte shares though. Thanks! This info and the fact that he sits on the Board of Directors - needs to get out fast!

It is equally pathetic that the Republicans can take it, but can't dish it out. Brilliant.

Can we mail her office cans of Starkist?I buy a lot of canned tuna and personally, I am not going to buy any Starkist tuna until Pelosi explains why American Samoa is exempt from the minimum wage hike.
Anyone care to do likewise?

So far, she's starting out looking as "ethically challenged" as she claimed the Republicans were.

What is her STAFF doing, other than laughing at this country? Speaking of, I do pity the poor staffer who had to tell Nancy that her little secret had been found out. I'll bet they drew straws for that task.

The greatest affects are in the smallest businesses, particular individual (one location) businesses where - as opposed to the large franchises and chains - there is considerably less chance for the increased cost differential to be diminished by increased sales volume.

True. But to me what ticked me off about min. wage increases was I busted my butt when I was 15 & 16 to make more money (about $1/hour more then my peers). Then min. wage goes up and they caught up to me for doing nothing.
