Did Russia complain in 1979 too?

since the Russians are concerned that we are determined "to resolve the Iraqi crisis through force", I'm sure that they will continue to use a strategy of negotiation in Chechnya as they have in the past....
now where to tack on that darned sarcasm tag....

Did Russia complain in 1979 too? As a matter of fact, yes, they did. Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko personally delivered a diplomatic note to the US Ambassador in Moscow stating that Russia would not object to a US war against Iran to restore the sanctityof diplomatic missions. In diplospeak the USSR was *asking* us to go to war against Iran and Carter didn't have a pair so we didn't and now look at the mess we're in.
