Anyone know the average income in Samoa? $7+ p/h might be like $20 in Oregon. I would imagine the cost of living is pretty low.

Still stinks like the s**t house door off a tuna boat tho'

Oh, I've read hit pieces, and this is one of them.

Democrat or not, I know Congressman Eni Faleomavaega personally. And this comes close to libel.

That being said, most of the "workers" at Star-Kist are from Western Samoa, and not even U.S. Nationals. And the "Largest Employer" in American Samoa is not Star-Kist but the American Samoa Government. Not that they bother to show up for work, since that doesn't keep them from being paid.

But since the Territory is responsible for it's own immigration and Customs, and there is no Federal Court, why would Federal Minimum Wage laws apply? The cry should be that there IS no Federal Court, and thus local corruption is much more of an offense than the "minimum wage" issue. The FBI just opened a branch office here, and the two agents are overworked as it is.

I think I will E-mail Eni on this one..
