La Vista Police Arrest Man On Charge Of Impersonating Officer Officer Thinks He's Helping Colleague
POSTED: 1:46 pm CST January 8, 2007 UPDATED: 5:08 pm CST January 8, 2007
LA VISTA, Neb. -- La Vista police said a man is under arrest after an officer watched him try to pull over another vehicle with flashing strobe lights on his SUV.
Guillermo J. Olivarres-Castro, 21, is charged with impersonating a police officer, among other charges.
Guillermo J. Olivarres-Castro
According to La Vista police, Officer Brian Stolley was on patrol near the 7400 block of South 66th Street when he watched a white 1999 Lincoln Navigator attempt to make a traffic stop on another vehicle using flashing strobe lights on the front grill of his vehicle. The officer initially believed the Navigator may have been an unmarked police car that was attempting to make a stop. The officer turned his vehicle around to help what he thought was a colleague, and in doing so talked to the Navigator's driver.
Officers located wiring from the strobe lights in the grill that led to a toggle switch in the vehicle.
Olivarres-Castro was transported and booked at the Sarpy County Jail.
Police said they're not sure Olivarres-Castro is a U.S. citizen. They said he showed a Mexican consulate card, not a driver's licenses.
Investigators said Olivarres-Castro admitted to police he was trying to get the other vehicle to pull over.
"The driver admitted he was acting like the police trying to pull over the other motorist because he felt the driver was driving crazy, erratic," said La Vista Lt. D.J. Barcal. "The concern is anyone could be pulled over under the assumption they're being pulled over by a legitimate law enforcement official."
Officers said they're not sure what Olivarres-Castro's intentions were once the other driver was stopped.
La Vista police want to know if there have been similar incidents in the recent past that have not yet been reported. Anyone with information can contact 402-331-1582.

If you impersonate an American citizen, nobody cares.

"he showed a Mexican consulate card,"
WTF?!?!?
For those who don't know what this is, it's the documentation on...(wait for it)....an 'undocumented worker'...
The only documentation sits in ol' Mejico
From
http://www.migrationinformation.org/feature/display.cfm?ID=115
For the estimated 8.5 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States, day-to-day life has always been precarious. Not only do they not have the legal right to live and work in America, but many cannot prove their own identity.
Lack of identification prevents undocumented immigrants from accessing the few public and private services that are available to them and intensifies their fear of contact with police and other official institutions. The events of September 11 and the scrutiny of undocumented immigrants that followed deepened this anxiety. In this light, many of the estimated 4.7 million Mexicans living in the US without authorization turned to a little-known Mexican government identity document called the matrícula consular. The ID cards have given undocumented immigrants a sense of security but have been received with mixed reactions by public and private institutions.
....
Beginning in early 2002, Mexico enhanced the security provisions of the matrícula and the process used to issue it. It also conducted a well-organized campaign to educate US banks, police departments, and governments about the new features and encourage them to accept the matrícula as a valid form of identification. The campaign targeted two fundamental needs of undocumented Mexican immigrants: the ability to identify oneself to local law enforcement and the ability to access financial services in order to save and remit money.
Read more at the link,
assuming you don't have high blood pressure.
Meant to include this in my previous post:
The local governments of 80 cities, including Tucson, Phoenix, Denver, Los Angeles, San Antonio, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, and Dallas accept the matrícula for uses such as obtaining a library card, entering public buildings, obtaining business licenses, registering children for school, and accessing a few, limited public services. At the state level, the most important use of the matrículas is in obtaining driver licenses. Although most states now require proof of legal immigration status, there are about 13 states that do accept the matrícula as proof of identity when issuing a license.

Was the driver of the car he was trying to pull over a woman or young girl? If so I hope they look into his background well. I would think setting up your car to pull people over is impersonating a police officer and who knows what he was really up to. They need to find out and see if anyone is missing or has been robbed by this guy or worse.

Do I have to put a sarcasm tag on this?

What?! Now the jack-booted thugs have some exclusionary right to strobe lights in their grills? When law-abiding citizens have their strobe lights confiscated, only criminals will have strobe lights. Are we going to lay down and give up all our rights... er, Lights?! What's next? We won't be able to hang our head out the window and go, "WOOOOOOOO-WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"
Sheesh, bunch of boot-lickers.... The guy was taking it upon himself to enforce the laws because the police were too busy across the street in the Dunkin' Donuts parking lot. He shouldn't be facing jail time and loss of strobe lights, he should be given a medal!

Maybe.....But how many times do you hear of some sicko pretending to be a police officer and raping or killing women.....I really don't care about profiling. I think some people ought to be profiled. No matter what their race is. I know all about that profiling, my husband rides a Harley, has tattoos and isn't a yuppie. He gets pulled over all the time. Since he isn't doing anything illegal except maybe for the loud pipes on the HD its no big deal... Usually he ends up making friends with the cops. I am tired of all this BS with racism and lawsuits. Just make life safer for all of us and cut the BS out.

I'll bet he was Racially profiling other illegals (not hard to do in Nebraska) that wouldn't go to the cops.
Maybe they can charge him with that, too.

An illegal alien (AKA a Mexican national) enforcing the laws Americans won't enforce.
You can't make this stuff up . . . .

Back pain? Depending on the cause of the pain, this book could help: Healing Back Pain - The mind-body connection by Dr. John E. Sarno. It really worked for me!

"La Mordida" or "the bite", I believe it's translated, is a Mexican law enforcement tradition. Get stopped and pay the bribe to go about your business. Perhaps this man was attempting to introduce a little diversity into the American driving experience. Think of him as a cultural ambassador, remember diversity is our strength!

Thanks, I am ready to try anything right now. I bought a infrared sauna and a hot tub. They both help but only for a short time. I will get the book. Thanks again~~Pandora~~
