It seems to me that Nifong's only hope of avoiding disaster in this case is to stack the jury with people who don't care about the evidence and are just determined to find the defendants guilty. If he tries that, can the defense lawyers stop him, or are they limited to a certain number of challenges?

If the fix is indeed in, what would stop the Durham judicial system from only sending jury summons to targeted neighborhoods for the day the jurors are pooled to cases? Would anyone be surprised if this case got its own, stand alone day and it's own, favorable to the persecution jury pool? This would tackle any pre-emptive challenges to potential jurors. I would simply not be surprised at all to see a stacked jury pool if this case gets to that stage.
