Greta is in MO on the missing boy case. That may be why Ted hasn't been there. She hasn't done the regular panel thing all week, IIRC. But Ted may be hiding anyway. I wonder if Greta has received a lot of complaints about him over this case. He's obviously a racist, so maybe Greta has had the good sense to dump him. I used to like him, but not since I've seen him place skin color over common legal sense.

She's a black female, so she gets a walk in their view. As far as they are concerned, she's a victim of Nifong's, too.

Without a doubt Nifong leaving is good news. However, the trial is still on. To drop the charges would just enrage the whole black community.

Hello,

Breaking in MO: Local radio reporting that the little boy missing has been found in an apartment in Kirkwood, along with a boy that disappeared about 3 years ago.

I am in shock, and praying that the boys are OK.

Mangum will continue to live in the bosom and safety of kindly Durham black folk who won't judge her harshly.

In fact, she may become the heroine who tried so hard to bring justice to blacks by using false claims of rape and other atrocities to go after some rich white boys at Duke who deserved it just because they're rich and white and attending a fine university.

They have to serve her with a subpoena to appear. All witnesses receive them, even the alleged victim. It's "standard operating procedure".

That, or he wants her to find a reason to not show up, or he's going to use "revelations" he discovered during the interview as his reason to dismiss. But that could be dangerous for him inasmuch as he would still be condemned for not interviewing her sooner. On the other hand, dereliction of duty/misfeasance carries less jeopardy than acts of malfeasance do. I'm sure he'd rather look foolish, negligent and dumb than criminal in both any civil suits to come down as well as in any criminal actions against him and the state bar actions against him.

Yep. Fox just announced Nifong wants to step down and have a special prosecutor appointed.

To: Protect the Bill of Rights

It was a subpoena, not a warrant. Huge difference. It's SOP for witnesses to receive subpoenas, and there's nothing unusual about a courthouse deputy/bailiff serving it if the meeting Nifong had with her was held at the courthouse or in a nearby location.

Who is going to indict him? NC has no oversight process for this. The DA for the county in which he met with Meehan and conspired to obstruct justice could do it, but he doesn't have the case files yet. He (or she) could interview Meehan and maybe develop the case from there, but it's a huge undertaking for a prosecutor to decide to do that to another prosecutor. It also wouldn't encompass the in-court perjury surrounding the DNA report because that happened in Durham County, although it could be used as evidence. The feds? They act very slowly, if they act at all. We don't know yet if they're going to do anything or not. The state AG? If Cooper was going to do anything, he'd have done it by now. He's already said he has no jurisdiction, and he apparently thinks that extends to criminal prosecution, which of course makes no sense, but rats always protect rats.

I was just surmising that perhaps Meehan could be used in a future case against Nifong. I don't know who gets to call the shots on that.

Yes, I saw that. Thank God........and whoever turned in that tip. The other boy has been held since 4/2002 - almost five years. They were shown walking into the police department and they looked fine in terms of their physical well-being. Of course, there're other kinds of damage and I don't want to go into speculation about that here.

Wonderful news!

Congratulations, and bravo to MO!
