TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — For World War II veteran Sam Stia, a legislative proposal that would cease requiring New Jersey schools to teach about Veterans Day and Memorial Day can be summed up in two words.

"That's wrong," Stia, 83, said Thursday from his Hamilton home, where he flies an American flag at half-staff to honor fallen soldiers. "We're just giving our flag away and our patriotism away."

How can someone even think for a second that this is a good idea?

It's infuriating. But then again.... it is NJ.

"We're just giving our flag away and our patriotism away."

That is an understatement. We are giving our country, our soul and our history away.

I know, but there comes a point when people have to do something drastic, like organize a protest and aim it at one specific legislator. Hell, start a political non-profit and raise money to buy ads in the newspaper or on TV even. Rent a billboard and put your legislator's face on it and say something like: John Smith thinks teaching about WW2 is not important. John Smith thinks teaching about (pick your liberal issue) is very important.

Anyway, I feel for ya dude.

When exactly did New Jersey become another moonbat People's Republic? Did all of the conservatives who used to live there just leave? NJ was until relatively recently a dependably Republican state in national elections - hard to believe it now.

“45 goals”

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture."

Figures in the 60's they had to impose on the teachers to be patriotic!

Matters just as much now. I'm suprised the bill made it this far without some squaking already.
