We met in the
EMERGENCY ROOM
of all places . . .

I am a paramedic, and she (at the time) was the ER clerk. We had been at the arcade in the mall when we got call came in, and while writing my report at the counter in front of her work desk, I bemoaned the loss of the 50 cents I had just deposited. She called me a "Medic Wanna-Be" (my service was formerly called Medic One) and asked me when I was going to get a real job.

Before I left, she asked me what I was doing next month. I asked her to narrow that down a little. Well, she was moving, and needed a big strong guy like me to help her out. She had no idea I owned a truck.

On the first date, I was hooked. Sure, I helped her move. I moved in too. I stayed. Almost 10 years (and 2 kids) now.

My love story...

Lonely 25 y/o. My good ole superior liked me at work and said he knew someone that fit my "religious and political" profile. BUT... She wanted a picture of me first, and all I had was a "Sam's card photo id". I sent it and she left word to start a conversation, which I did via telephone... She agreed to meet me for a date, her mom actually drove her to the meeting place (local quik-mart) to meet (she didn't want me to know her home in case I was a nut or something). Well we had great first date/movie and things looked good for a second date. We set a second date time...

Called second date and she said "nope"... Her voice was basically gone and she said she was sick. Well I figured this was just a cop-out, but I wasn't giving up. I asked my mom what was up, and I explained that I really like this sweet little thing, Mom said "make her a fruit basket". Well, I did, and took probable the largest fruit basket in history to her. She was actually surprised and invited me in to meet her sister. Then she got to feeling better, we went on a second great date. Then a third...

1 year later married.

13 years later still happily married and.... I still take occasional advice from Mom cause she tends to know more than I originally gave her credit for.
