The fact that she has been with the department for 13 years only proves that political correctness has been implemented for that long, not that she has the necessary skills and strength to pick up a grown man and carry him out of a burning building.
Firefighters save lives,
Female firefighters risk lives.
After 13 years the burden of proof is on you.
Having been on the volunteer fire dept. for many years in my community and just to supply my 2 cents, I have never needed help from a male volunteer to do my job on a fire, up to and including "manning" the hoses. If that happened I would have quit right then and there. I was often first on scene and didn't hesitate to do my job, whatever was required of me. I am 5'2" tall and weigh 110 pounds
I served as a Coastie, and we had several females at the station. Two of them were better coasties than a lot of the guys I served with. The other 3 females were a danger to be on a boat crew with. They knew it, too, so one served as messcook, the other two did radio room and yeoman work.
Female firefighters do not necessarily risk people lives as long as they are just as qualified as their male counterparts.
