I fall, of course on the side of Conservatism and the Reaganite modern GOP.

I also thought that Dr. Allende got some small portion of what he deserved (on 9/11) and that Admiral Pinochet was and is the single greatest hero in Chilean history.

I insisted on nothing in regard to Davis. I wanted your arguments on how Lincoln might be "conservative" as you recognize that term while freely massacring the federal constitution (as recognized by his appointed SCOTUS Chief Justice and Treasury Secretary Salmon Chase in post-war decisions). Lest you be tempted, Chase was more abolitionist than Lincoln.

Was the imposition of an unconstitutional federal income tax by Lincoln a lowering of taxation or a lessening of the size and intrusiveness of the fedgov??? Was the institution by Lincoln of an unconstitutional military draft an example of his dedication to smaller and less intrusive government???

No doubt, what with military juntas being such a big part of the Reaganite modern GOP and all.</sarcasm>

So how can you be so down of Lincoln for what you claim was his massacre of the Constitution and such a big fan of Pinochet? And while you're at it how about that post war decision of Chief Justice Chase that showed the southern actions to be what they were, rebellion? Not a fan of that I assume.

Wouldn't the same be true of Davis who also implemented an income tax and conscription?

It occurs to me, after reading several posts, that your interlocutor is three beers short of a sixpack.

Why go on?
