You're correct......and I really should expand my statements to 'denominational Christianity". It isn't working any more. Evengelical Christianity, on the other hand, is THRIVING.

Too few ask why....that is, legitimately ask why. The answer is obvious.

So France will eventually be a Muslim country. How is that supposed to represent progress over Catholicism unless one is already a Muslim? the LW MSM is effectively insane.

A poll published in Le Monde des Religions yesterday showed the number of self-declared French Catholics had dropped from 80 per cent in the early 1990s and 67 per cent in 2000 and to 51 per cent today.

That's a stunningly fast drop. 29% in only 15 years? That's a rapid population shift and portends even worse civil unrest. Within 25 years, that will be a majority Muslim nation.

"A poll published in Le Monde des Religions yesterday showed the number of self-declared French Catholics had dropped from 80 per cent in the early 1990s and 67 per cent in 2000 and to 51 per cent today. The number of atheists has risen sharply to 31 per cent from 23 per cent in 1994.

Let's break down those numbers, shall we?

Okay, between 1990 and 2000, about 18% of the population who had previously been Catholic, either moved to another country, or renounced their faith.

And since 2000, another 16% of french nationals have done likewize in less than 8 years.

If I have learned anything in the past 49 years that I have been gifted to live, it is that deep personal faith is not something so easily tossed aside.

Therefore I conclude, that either these people have died off, moved off, been converted by force or self will, or were never true believers in the first place.

Or it could be that the number of Arab Muslim immigrants have so overwhelmed the population during those times, that they are on the verge of changing the culture within that country.

Whatever reason for the demise of the Christian Church in France, it must be very sad for a Native Frenchman who has to witness your culture reverting back to the stone age.

"When you have bishops rejecting the Catholic faith, is it any surprise that the people followed suit?"

Bingo!!!! We have a winner folks!

You are so right!

How can the blind lead to blind?

How can those who have no faith, preach faith to those who hunger for it?

It's also a problem in the Protestant Churches as well, and must be faced now!

Almost all of Western Europe is in a spiritual decline. The correlation that can be drawn between that and their other problems is immense, but you'll never read about it in a European publication.

[ I've been wondering, which country has produced more canonized saints, France or Italy? Does anyone know? ]

What do they shoot the Saints at?... What sound does a Saint make when it hits the target?..

What do they shoot the Saints at?...

Heretics, apostates, infidels, pagans............

What sound does a Saint make when it hits the target?..

The sound of the devil's head exploding when he loses another soul.

Sooo you can be a Roman Catholic and NOT believe in God?..

Yeah, it's kind of like attending Easter services carrying a 5lb. Bible, then coming home to the White House to boink the interns.

I really don't understand why people want the Latin mass back. Why not have the mass in Greek, Hebrew, or Aramaic? What is so special about Latin?

Is it the use of Latin or is it the more formal mass that you (and others) like? Would you prefer the Tridentine Mass to have all of its original aspects, except be done in English (or another language such as Hebrew)?

"Such a juxtaposition requires stupidity both infinite and absolute. The concept can't be rationally discussed because words have definitions."
Why? The concept can be logically analyzed by carrying it to its logical conclusion. There are catholic atheists, protestant atheists, orthodox atheists, jewish atheists, moslem atheists, hindu atheists and so on. One could probably be more than one kind of an atheist at the same time - on the paternal and on the maternal side, for example. [BTW, are there any extra personal tax exemptions for it?]. Maybe there even are atheist atheists.

No country with a sizable alcohol consumption can be in spiritual decline, expecially if that consumption is in the form of distilled spirits. In Salzburg, Austria, a liquor shop sign read "Spirituosen".

"Catholicism will remain the most important religion,"
This isn't saying much in France.
When you have no core it shows in every aspect of your life. France is a sick sorry country that will very soon be a very religious country. These guys with the prayer mats will see to that.

The French peasantry starved themselves by refusing to plant potatoes or oats when wheat wouldn't grow. Although there was corruption, it was no better or worse than that found in GB in this era. The Church was just another scapegoat.

The Latin Mass is for many of us the sign of a return to the traditional Church, before the widespread buggery and coverups-before the cowardly bishops were given their posts, before the corruption of the moral teachings of the Church. The Church may come out considerably smaller but may be ebergized for a rebirth of spirit and of the Spirit.
