REPUBLICANS TAKE TENNESSEE LT. GOVERNOR POSITION THANKS TO STEVE GILL

Posted on 01/09/2007 2:25:23 PM PST by PATRICK HENRY USA

IT IS A HISTORIC DAY AS THE TENNESSEE SENATE VOTED TODAY TO PLACE REPUBLICAN RON RAMSEY IN AS THE FIRST REPUBLICAN LT. GOVERNOR SINCE RECONSTRUCTION. CURRENT LT. WILDER IS 85 YEARS OLD AND IS NO SHAPE TO BE NEXT IN LINE AS GOVERNOR.

MIKE WILLIAMS DID NOT TURN RINO THIS TIME AND STAYED WITH THE PARTY IN HIS VOTE. AND MUCH THANKS TO SEN. KURITA (D) FOR HAVING THE COURAGE TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND VOTE FOR RAMSEY. THE LT. GOVERNOR PLAYS A ROLE IN APPOINTING HEADS OF COMMITTEES AND THUS CAN CONTROL WHAT LEGISLATION GETS OUT OF COMMITTEE FOR A VOTE.

THIS POLITICAL EVENT WAS SPEARHEADED BY TALK SHOW HOST STEVE GILL ON HIS STATEWIDE RADIO SHOW COMING FROM THE MOTHER SHIP 1510 WLAC IN NASHVILLE. STEVE SPENT MONTHS DERIDING THE POOR LEADERSHIP OF WILDER AND SCARED ALL THE RINOS INTO STAYING IN THE FOLD ON THEIR VOTE LEAST THEY BE HARMED IN THE NEXT ELECTION. SO HERE IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF HOW TALK RADIO CAN BE USED TO EFFECT POSITIVE CHANGE WHEN IT IT USED BY SKILLED PEOPLE. GOD BLESS TENNESSEE.

Praise the Lord, I could barely believe my ears when I heard it on AM 600 a short while ago.

As I remember, Steve Gill was the one who spearheaded the effort against a proposed Tennessee State Income Tax.

Keep up the good work, Steve!!

WELL MACK, YOU REMEMBER CORRECTLY. IT WAS STEVE GILL AND PHIL VALENTINE OF WLAC AND WWTN THAT RALLIED THE VOLUNTEERS OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE ON MANY OCCASIONS TO CAPITOL HILL WHEN GOV. SUNDQUIST AND THE CRONIES WANTED TO PASS A STATE INCOME TAX. WE JAMMED THE CAPITOL AND RAISED OUR VOICES FOR A REDRESS OF GRIEVANCES AND STOPPED THE BLOODY THING. THANK GOD FOR TALK RADIO AND BRAVE PATRIOTS. THANK GOD FOR THE PATRIOTS OF TENNESSEE. PHOTOS OF THIS EVENT CAN BE FOUND AT WWW.TNTAXREVOLT.COM

From Team GOP

From The Tennessean: In historic move, Wilder defeated by Ramsey for lieutenant governor's post

Wilder had held the post since the early 1970s – but Ramsey defeated him after state Sen. Rosalind Kurita of Clarksville defected from her fellow Democrats and voted with the Republicans for Ramsey.

The Senate exploded with applause at the last-minute switch.

Also voting for Ramsey were state Senate speaker pro tem Mike Williams, a Republican who two years ago had voted for Wilder. Also, state Sen. Jerry Cooper, a Democrat from Morrison who had threatened not to back Wilder, backed the senior statesman after all.

Yes. I think the Dems would send a mummy to the postion if it had a D after its name. The man was Lt. Gov. for 36 years. Also scary is that some doctor found him in good enough medical condtion to fly his plane.

Thank heaven!!!

Not only did the rinos stay with us, but we got a dem with some spine. I almost smashed my TV last time when we threw away the leadership after working so hard to get the majority.

I think that the possibility of Wilder taking over if something happened to Bredesen (like last year's mystery illness) woke some people up!

How the heck does a Democrat get elected to represent Clarksville?

"How the heck does a Democrat get elected to represent Clarksville?"

By knocking off the freshman Republican incumbent in 1996.

Being excited causes one to lose control of their caps lock? Never heard that one before.
