His health-care plan would regulate, centralize, restrict choice and add taxes
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger unveiled Monday a jaw-dropping plan to impose on Californians mandatory, universal health care coverage, along with a near-universal price tag. Sadly, the governor's solution piles on more of what created the health care mess in the first place: government mandates, government-imposed costs and government regulations, which all artificially restrict the market, drive up costs and, ultimately, limit medical care, rather than expand it.
Gov. Schwarzenegger's plan, which unbelievably promises to lower costs and increase coverage, is an exercise in Orwellian logic.
"Fixing health care requires changes from all of us," said Kim Belshe, the governor's Health and Human Services secretary. The key word is "requires," which is a concept anathema to the free market, but ever-present in government, which by nature restricts, rather than frees.
The governor's $12 billion plan would require every individual to have health insurance, whether he wants it or not, and every employer of 10 or more to provide it, or pay into a state insurance fund. After promising for months no new taxes to finance his scheme, Gov. Schwarzenegger revealed Monday what he really meant: a 4 percent payroll "fee" imposed on businesses with 10 or more employees who don't conform to the mandate to buy insurance, a 4 percent "fee" on hospital revenue and a 2 percent "fee" on doctors' income.
Gov. Schwarzenegger also would require insurance companies to guarantee coverage to everyone, irrespective of risk. If you think premiums are high today when carriers can avoid high-risk customers, you haven't seen anything yet. Incredibly, the governor's plan also relies on finding $5.47 billion in "new" federal money to increase Medi-Cal payment rates. New money in Schwarzeneggian speak is just "old" money that used to belong to someone else.

What an asshat Arrrrnold is. Thanks to the jerks who voted fot this idiot and put him back into office. What is the difference between him and a dem? Can't see any.
It's official. Ahnuld is a Democrat. And a socialist.
Remember the names we were called for opposing this guy in the recall election? Remember the scorn heaped upon us?
At least now we can unhesitatingly say "WE TOLD YOU SO."
Well, he had an (R) and was more electable....
most republicans are capitalists until it comes to health care...then it's "for the children"(or in this case, for the children of illegals, too!) and we can be all socialists.
How about a 4 percent "fee" on hospital revenue and a 2 percent "fee" on doctors' income.
I am at a total loss here. My representatives are....
Schwarzeneggar
Babs Boxer
Di Fi
Kevin McCarthy
I didn't vote for any of them.....ever. And not one of them have my best interests at heart, they all like Mexico's citizens better than me.
I am ready to totally give up on the political "system".

Ahhnold is just a preview of what we would get with McPain.
We have to get a Re Call.
I'd be happy if he was stripped of the "R" next to his name. If he isn't going to support the party or it's platform, all he can do is damage the party and stand in the way of any positive progress.
He can replace the "R" with the mumbo-jumbo of his new party, a "B" or "P" (bipartisan/postpartisan), or maybe even "C" (centrist, communist, communitarian--you choose).
Upcoming efforts on redistricting (to make it more centrist), moving up the California presidential primary (to help a Rudy get the GOP nomination), extending term-limits (for Fabian and clan) will only weaken any possible opportunities conservatism may have in the future.
I predict a lot of 9 employee companies in CA's future...
The beauty of the United Staes of America is that you can move to another state that suits your aspirations. If conservatives concentrate in states with low populations they get their own state governamen and 2 Senators!
Good point and a lot of folks have already done just that.
Are you in the BC area or back East?

No state is safe anymore. Just wait til they pass amnesty and we have 40 million relatives come over and then 40 million more waiting for the next amnesty.
You think they all are gonna stay in California or Arizona?
Nowhere is safe.
