Reagan won in 1980 by being conservative.

Reagan wasn't near as "conservative" as the likes of you wrist slitters. In fact, when he was running, he was attacked by the "purist" in the party (but, hey, who hasn't been, right?).

And fyi nobody "debates" you anymore because you've been bitching about SOMETHING about the GOP since you signed up here.

You're never FOR anything, always AGAINST something.

Unfortunately for your side, it's just noise now, echoing around the empty shell of what the GOP has become.

The NOISE is coming from the likes of you who do nothing except bitch and moan because nobody agrees with you.

Time to put some substance back into the party if we want to win in 2008.

If by "substance," you mean listen to the likes of you, you've got a real shock coming; if you think the GOP didn't learn about counting on your type of vote you're crazy.

The GOP will now move to the middle to attract the moderates that are independent and/or Democrats to form a concensus out of MATURE people who aren't on the extremes of each end of the parties.

Finally the GOP has realized that even though they pander to you all, you cannot be counted on to put the country first, that you will always always find YET SOMETHING ELSE to be upset about -- and that you don't care enough about the country to put it before youself and your tunnel vision agenda.

Congratulations; you are now totally irrelevant.

And whatever you think of us, we would NEVER EVER let a Democrat get elected. Too bad you can't say the same.

Enjoy the next two years; you wanted it and you got it.

He was still far more conservative than pubbies today.

That's a bald-faced lie, Howlin. Please show me a single post during the last campaign where I said vote against the GOP House and Senate members. I instead said their re-election was vital.

But since they lost, NOW is the time to figure out what went wrong. And you are not part of the solution - instead, attitudes such as yours are the lion's share of the problem.

So since you lie about me, and are now an obstructionist to trying to fix what is wrong with the GOP, please - continue not to ping me or FYI me. You can continue to working within your ever-shrinking circle of GOP denialists.

We are NOW totally irrelevant? Conservatives have been irrelevant for six years now. What difference if we're irrelevant under a Marxist congress instead of a Marxist imposter congress?

"The GOP will now move to the middle to attract the moderates that are independent and/or Democrats to form a concensus out of MATURE people who aren't on the extremes of each end of the parties."

It's too late for that now, the new party for "mature" voters is the Dem party.

Rahm Emmanuel did what the so-called RYMB Rove should have done: identified voter concerns, found likeable, principled candidates, and promoted the hell out of them while running savage but true campaigns against feckless, too-long-in-office Pubbies.

I'll never leave the GOP, I was a two-term committee precinct person in the past and have asked to be appointed to fill a vacancy this term, but the GOP blew it for many people when they "left behind their true love" as St. Paul said about the church that was neither hot nor cold, and was therefore to be spewed out of Christendom's mouth.

And like Laodecia I'm afraid the GOP has seen its day and will be spewed out of the body politic by the voters as the liberals will vote Dem, rather than Dem Lites like McCain and Giuliani, and the moderates will find open arms within the Dem party.

It's really sad, but it wasn't the conservatives' fault, it was entirely the fault of the GOP pols that blew such a magnificent opportunity.

I suspect the only time we'll ever go conservative or GOP again is if there is another horrible terrorist attack on us, far worse than 9/11.
