If every American had to pay income tax (on WHATEVER source of money they have), it would be a lot harder to pass a tax increase. I personally am strongly against any income tax at all, but if one of us has to pay, we all should.

Under the current system, with the bottom 40% of income earners paying nothing or getting more in govt handouts than they pay in, there's a huge group of people willing to vote for any income tax increase.
