"Let's have a vote on what to do with the money in this purse." That is an excellent idea! I'm going to start using it....

If every American had to pay income tax (on WHATEVER source of money they have), it would be a lot harder to pass a tax increase. I personally am strongly against any income tax at all, but if one of us has to pay, we all should. Under the current system, with the bottom 40% of income earners paying nothing or getting more in govt handouts than they pay in, there's a huge group of people willing to vote for any income tax increase. --------------------------
You said it ALL right there!
And that is why Republicans will never win another (important) election, unless the Democrats run Michael Moore for the Presidency!

Sure it's been around for that long, but with the big promo and a little media play, Apple will be able to double or triple the price and sell a few million of the things to the fashion-conscious-but-brain-dead demographic.

That's what makes payroll taxes such a farce. As far as most employees are concerned, their employer is paying them what they "clear" after deductions from their checks.
If people had to pay their taxes out of their pockets, it would be different.

If people had to pay their taxes out of their pockets, it would be different. From your keyboard to God's eyes! Can you imagine the rebellion if every income-earner was presented with a tax bill from the Govt on April 15th every year??? Makes me all warm and fuzzy just thinking about it.

OT--Suzanne Summers' house burned down in the Malibu fire last night, among several other multi-million dollar homes... I do feel bad, but not that bad. If she needs a place to crash while waiting for it to be rebuilt, I can think of several eligible bachelors who would be glad to lend a hand.
Were I to ever have a house in a place like Malibu, it would be four walls, brick, and roof, with enough room for a cot, a chair, TV, PC, Microwave, a bathroom, and a surfboard. Anything else is just non-essentials.

There was a professor of mine years ago, who spoke of taxation and this Republic.
He would take a purse from one of the female students and hold it up, saying, "Let's have a vote on what to do with the money in this purse."
The two choices were to distribute the money equally among everyone in the class, or to give it back to the rightful owner.
This, he explained, was one reason why this Republic is not a simple democracy.
Gotta love it!!!
Use that.

The greatest example I've ever heard of this was the voice of a black man at the end of a commercial saying "sum-tak-m-bout" ("That's what I'm talking about"). Now that's linguistic efficiency!

We had a singer come in to record and she kept singing "sjist" instead of "let's just". It took a few times to even get her to hear what she was doing. Then it took even longer for her to force herself to sing the real words.

Big time! About 60% would technically belong in prison, and 100% would be outraged.
