I will concede your point about the slide, it is quite strong. That is my mate's primary complaint about it. Good thing it is mine huh? ;)
I'm a large guy with better-than-average grip strength, but that slide is hard-to-impossible to operate under less than ideal conditions (say, with sweat-slick hands, or worse, blood-slick hands) - and you can't even push it against a convenient corner to cycle it because of the design.
The grooving that exists on the slide seems to suit me ok. I would offer to you that if you were to load up a magazine open breach and press the release, you would never really have to operate the slide manually. Can't say I would use a corner of anything to operate my slide. But hey, that's just me.
I like my sig, sorry you don't.
Nice is that a Kimber?
Nope, it's a Para Ordnance LTC in .45ACP. It's comparable to a Kimber Pro-Carry II, but has a better extractor, better length barrel (4-1/4 inch barrel instead of the Kimber's 4 - inch barrel). It weighs about the same, but from my experience it is more accurate and reliable than the Kimber at $200.00 less.
I like Kimbers too, but have just had better experiences with this.
Once again, I generally carry an automatic - but even the best auto can jam. Both types have their place.
By the way the best gun is the one you can shoot accurately with. Then you have to make sure it works all the time or you have an expensive club.
Yes, the .40Cal/10mm is quite good. It has better a ballistic cross section than the 9mm, a heavier impact and is better to manage than the 44 or 45 cal. But as I wrote before if you can't hit anything with it your plain SOL.
