Most people get their impression of NJ when they see what's on the other side of the Lincoln Tunnel or GW Bridge. Having lived there twice, I can tell you that it's a beautiful state with lots to offer. Very liberal but a great state.The beaches are some of the best.
I got my impression driving the length of the state several times. Everywhere I stopped for food it was the same. Everything was limp and tasteless and room temp. Next time I will fly over- less depressing.
Yes, my first view of NYC was at dusk traveling through a dismal swamp, then bright lights...big city.
