Did she go up and receive communion? I haven't heard, one way or another.

It would be very difficult to tell anyone they couldn't attend Mass. Even if they were in a state of mortal sin or excommunication, as long as they steered clear of communion.

John Kerry made a photo-op of receiving communion, which was particularly egregious. But you can't very well stop someone from entering a church.

But the priest can deny the person communion.
