In conjunction with her sister ship, CGC Polar Star, one of these vessels also makes a north (Arctic) trip each year also.

Not so odd when you realize the Coasties and the Air Force wear the same (combination 4 in my day) light blue short sleeve uniform.

The Air Force and the Coast Guard are actually working together pretty closely these days for Homeland Defense missions.
