I know marlowe. He's not a communist. And your logic doesn't follow in arriving at that conclusion.
I understand that you want folks to care for themselves, and that's the ideal.
Unfortunately, some can't. In fact, in this current cost system in medical care, most can't. I know a person whose heart surgery and complications thereafter ended up with a bill in the neighborhood of a quarter million when all was said any done....doctors, hospitals, therpy, etc.
In our area, I think an overnight at the hospital costs about 2500 bucks.
We have to deal with:
1. What is in front of us.
2. What should be.
It is immoral to let someone die when it can be prevented and the person restored to a reasonable level of health. Therefore, the person must be treated.
Where the money comes to pay for it is an entirely different issue.
SOME of it should come from the patient. If they can afford to pay for all of it, then they should.
