Brilliant political strategists they are not, but that is what happens when voting emotionally.

Ah. One of the classic liberal attacks on conservatives. It's lame and tired, though. (And it is an accusation that they themselves are mostly guilty of.)

In the past it has been Conservative voters who voted smart, while the Dims were emotional and fractured with different interest groups.

It is now reversed, the big tent theory does that, when your party grows, there is a tendency to try to please everyone.

Of course this argument matters not, since the evidence is clear that Conservatives opinion makers wanted a loss of Congress and they got it.

As a Conservative, I disagreed with idea that punishing Republicans in 06, for spending, for not being ideological enough, impatience with Iraq, ect, was not warranted in this dangerous time.

To turn over domestic spending, domestic intell gathering, troop funding, a global warming debate, UN and Bolton, decisions on Israel, Iran, NK, Lebanon, Afghan, Pak, ect, judges, universal health care and energy decisions to the Dims was nonsensical. And again, it risked losing the Conservative firewall to the President, and our only Conservatives in Congress with who we had influence.

Not to mention giving the MSM more power and influence, knowing that they can defeat good Conservative officeholders with enough faux "bad press".

IMO, during this critical time, strong and funded primary challenges are the smarter way to go.

But that is difficult, and being in the minority is easy.

So it goes with the natural human instinct to punish and take the easy way out.
