Please keep posting the FACTS! I am so sick of the mythographized, unrecognizable Reagan, that so many posters here write about.

Why are you laughing; jerry asked you to tell him how his life has been effected.
Can't do it?

Do you have a reading comprehension problem?

When you run and perform as a conservative you will win as happened in georgia. We gained seats as opposed to lost seats.I think one of the major reasons for this occuring was the influx of conservative voters, formerly of the northeast, that now call Georgia home. For that we are very grateful. Ya'll come! Leave the rinos up north.

"You'll get no disagreement from me on his ability to articulate his values and our need for such a communicator. What I take issue with is the mindless Hannity types who say, we need to get back to Reagan and, in the very same speech, point to immigration and the deficit -- of all things -- as his main beef with the current GOP!"

Like I said, I don't pay any attention to media pundits. As far as Reagan and deficits and immigration go: (1)Reagan would have had lower deficits if he had not had a Congress run by the Democrats, and his veto pen was rarely dry (unlike Bush), (2)Reagan went along with Democrats on a much smaller amnesty (2.5 million) with insistence on greater border enforcement and harsh measures against employers who hired illegals to end the "magnet" that such employers made (his word for them). Given his attitude about enforcement he would have been the first to declare those enforcement provisions as having failed, and failed primarily due to simple failure of the executive to execute them, and he would have supported their enforcement and not to let them languish. Yet even as much as he supported immigration in principle he would have called the potential immigration levels coming out of the current Senate bill (100 million new immigrants over the next twenty years) as more than simply excessive and clearly beyond the nations ability to assimilate in a reasonable time.

I don't always agree with Hannity. Yet you seem to demand of Hannity an all or nothing position on Reagan, but only for those policies of his you favored (like immigration) while YOU are free to criticize Reagan on an appointment like O'Connor. At least Hannity is honest in praising Reagan for those attributes Hannity appreciated about Reagan, but able to have his own view on a position like immigration, and still remain an admirer of Reagan. Unlike you, he seems to not demand a Reagan "mantra" or nothing.

Just look at the top contenders for Presidential candidate. All RINOS ...McCain, Guilliani, and Romney. Where are the conservatives?

Scary. Conservatives are in for a rough ride. I got a good laugh out of Hannity on TV tonight trying to say that Romney is a Conservative! I think Dick Morris was the guest at the time and he said something along the lines of, "You're kidding, right?"

As a Conservative, I am not happy with any of the Republican candidates as of now. However, with the thought of having another Clinton in the white house for 4-8 years.. I will end up voting for the Republican ticket.

By the number of these types of articles being posted (not to mention the ingenious monikers plastered on conservatives and name-calling), you might make the assumption that there is a devious plot by Log Cabin types to ostracize conservatives and the conservative philosophy. Hmmm?

If you are truly concerned as you let on about the plight of politics and power, how does lambasting conservatives and their principles serve to further your agenda?

Failure to answer that last question or a truthful asnwer may give you away, so be careful.

"At least Hannity is honest in praising Reagan for those attributes Hannity appreciated about Reagan, but able to have his own view on a position like immigration, and still remain an admirer of Reagan." No you don't get it. He makes a demand for "Reagan conservatives" in the very same breath as he is blasting Republicans for the deficit spending and immigration. If you're gonna cite Reagan, it is probably a good idea to pick some issues on which Reagan isn't exactly like the Republicans he is criticizing. Is that too much to ask?

Blaming the voters you couldn't inspire to go to the polls isn't too bright.

It is very intelligent if the whole idea is to separate them from the GOP. Think about it, and the number of these types of articles (complete with name calling)that keeping on being posted on FR.

Agreed. If you run, win, and perform as a conservative, chances are you will win again. This will happen if your core demographic of orginal constituents, stick aroud for your next election. So many different possibilities happen, including redistricting. You could have a solid conservative to moderate district one day and the next day you've been gerrymandered, so a HUGE CHUNK of low income welfare housing has been added to your district while the conservative chunk is deleted out...Do you really think you are going to have the identical campaign that you ran on last time? In your heart you are indeed a conservative, but you'll either lose BIG on a explicit conservative platform(which I know many here feel is OK) or you lose small on a moderate platform preferring to stick to fiscal issues...not social ones this time around.

Yep, Hannity describes himself as a Reagan conservative. He can't really come up with a long list of accomplishments he can identify with though.

You could not be more wrong. The conservative votes in the GOP in the Senate AGAINST THE IMMIGRATION BILL,
Thanks for making my point!
This has been nothing but a dog and pony show.
We don't need a new law to stop illegal immigration. We don't need comprehensive reform. We don't need a wall. The president could simply order the Justice Department to prosecute employers of illegal immigrants. Why haven't those "Conservatives" you mentioned demanded that the President do that?

Eisenhower did not need Congress or the Senate when he rounded up over two million illegals during Project Wetback. Why can't George Bush do that?

The simple truth is that our rulers want the illegal immigration to continue. Maybe they know something we don't and we really do need the illegal immigration?

Nonsense. The Taliban have not made a "comeback". They are in control of nothing in Afganistan.
They control the four provinces in the south and are now striking targets in the north. Most of the “new” Taliban are Arabs, not Pakastanis. In the remote areas, the warlords have rearmed their militias to protect their people...the job we promised to do.

You have some fantasy that the CIA single handedly eliminated the Taliban and the DOD recreated them. If I knew you better, I'd ask you what you have been smoking.
LOL!
It's definately not as good as the stuff you're smokin'...or you have a reading comprehension problem! .

You're just telling me what the Democrats might do. I already know that Republicans have given us the greatest growth of government since FDR.
You're not going to scare me with Democrat boogeyman stories when I've just seen what the Republican boogeymen can do.

The Republicans had everything going for them- but they self destructed.

They sure did!
It's almost as if they took a dive.

"He can't really come up with a long list of accomplishments he can identify with though." He can't come up with a way to identify himself......which is why he wraps himself in Reagan. It is such a cheap stunt to do in talk radio --- wrap yourself in Reagan (rather than define yourself on your own) and the fans eat it up.

I was never a regular listener of his but now I rarely listen to him...I always was embarrassed for him though when he would say he was a Reagan conservative. Anybody familiar with the Reagan record and how conservatives like Richard Viguerie treated him, would likely see more similarities with Bush than differences.
