Truth to the left is that which advances their goals. Factuality is irrelevant.

I heard Laura Ingraham talking about this last week. Her show is fantastic.

It proves an old cliche about "preaching to the choir":editors and readers of "The Old Grey Lady".

The New York Time's attitude toward the truth mirrors that of radical Islamists. Whatever advances their cause is OK with them. Is it any wonder that the MSM finds such sympathy for the terrorists, Their MO is the same.

If there are any honest people left at the Old Whore, one wonders why they remain in the cesspool.

Good article. When is a lie not a lie? When it's "metaphorically correct".I find it impossible to fathom the mentality of a person that can make a statement like that and expect people to believe it.

They probably thought about using "fake but accurate" but concluded that that phrase was a dud.

In addition, it was reported a a few days after Bryan Calame's OpEd appeared that Calame is slated to leave his post as public editor soon, and that the New York Times has decided that they may abolish the post.
This editorial was a major embarrassment for them. Their predictable response is to get rid of the position of ombudsman. Then they needn't worry it will happen again.
Pinch Sulzberger himself was involved in the cover-up, and probably in commissioning the article in the first place, although it involved not only outright lies but a clear conflict of interest, since the author was working for an abortion organization at the same time he was working for the Times.

"metaphorically true,"
just like the false accusations of the Duke Lacrosse players; just like the fake papers pushed by Dan Rather.

Time to learn from our enemies. If a group of people from third world countries (i.e. the majority of Islamic militants) can manipulate the media, become the focal point of American and European elections, and have strong enough an impact as to worry the rest of this big world about the threat of Islamic dominance, then so can we. I'm not talking about violence. I'm talking about not letting the other side (and yes I include the radical leftists in our own country in this dichotomy) dictate the arguments.
When they say they are for human rights, they need to be hit hard and often with all of the human rights violations they have sat on the sidelines watching (e.g. the Kurds, Darfur, and the huge number of people who have suffered and are suffering under their darling socialist dictators). When they say they are for education we need to hit back hard with the fact that they care more about their teachers' union supporters than they do about innocent children (and put it EXACTLY like that, accusing them of not caring about the innocent). I could go on, and on, and on. The point is that they need to be knocked back on their heels, over and over and over again. This is a cultural war for life. There is no room or time to pull punches. We need to say, with complete conviction that 'everyone knows the democrats are racist, are not for the little guy, are pro-special interest, AND support policies that are anti-environmental (e.g. banning nuclear energy, unabated illegal immigration etc.). Take EVERY issue they run on, and take it away from them. Point out incessantly and without reservation how hypocritical they are.
No, I did not drink too much coffee today.
