The other gems I mentioned not only are worth something, but usually appreciate in value---like my 10 carat deep purple tanzanite I got a 'bzillion years ago....it's worth 6 times more than I paid for it, if I wanted to sell it.
I'd rather wear it.
Same with black opals too....

I admire your Tanzanite ring, and have a small one myself. That said, it is none the less a "Conflict" Stone..as well.

A friend of mine took her grandmother's ring in to a jeweler to hav it appraised and he appraised it at $6000.00. Maybe if the person buying the diamonds knew something about them they would not be buying cheep crap that isn't worth anything later.
I like those stones as well and like you I buy them to wear and don't worry about what they will be worth if I sell them. I have sold them on occasion when I have upgraded what I have. I have been fortunate enough to get very good prices for them. On the other hand I don't buy cheap ones to begin with. I like quality and quality does hold it's value.
