Israel has drawn up plans to destroy Iran's uranium enrichment facilities with tactical nuclear weapons, according to a report in the London-based Sunday Times on Sunday morning.
The British newspaper said that two IAF squadrons had been training to blow up an enrichment plant in Natanz using low-yield nuclear "bunker busters."
A heavy water plant at Arak and a uranium conversion plant at Isfahan would also be targeted, using conventional bombs, according to the Sunday Times.
Reportedly, the plan envisaged conventional laser-guided bombs opening "tunnels" into the targets. Nuclear warheads would then be fired into the plant at Natanz, exploding deep underground to reduce radioactive fallout.
IAF pilots have flown to Gibraltar in recent weeks to train for the 2,000 mile round-trip to the Iranian targets, the Sunday Times said, adding that three possible routes to Iran had been mapped out including one over Turkey.
The Sunday Times suggested that Israel may be trying to scare Iran or to cajole the US into taking stronger action against Teheran's nuclear program.
However, the report went on to speculate that Israel may strike at Iran's nuclear facilities and pressure the Americans to agree with the move after the event.
In March 2005 The Sunday Times reported that Israel had drawn up secret plans for a combined air and ground attack on targets in Iran if diplomacy failed to halt the Iranian nuclear program.
The newspaper then claimed that the inner cabinet of former prime minister Ariel Sharon, had given "initial authorization" for an attack at a private meeting on his ranch in the Negev.

This article is absurd. Iran has hundreds, perhaps thousands of human shields surrounding the key facilities. Ehud Olmert didn't have the balls to finish off Hizbollah when the media turned on him. Do you really think this vile prick is going to dare attack those "innocents"? If Olmert were a paid agent of the Saudis he couldn't do more damage to Israel than he has done.
This is nothing more than a big bluff and President Tom is laughing his ass off. Israel knows W hasn't got the backing to do this....or the balls....We're a laughing stock of the Arab World...can you imagine them rolling on the floor laughing when Pelosi started flexing her little chickenbone arm like Popeye...that pretty much is a picture of the USA right now.

They would be stupid if they didnt have the plans.

I tend to agree about Olmert. He seems a weak sister and not up to Bibi or any of the heroes of the past Israeli military apparatus. If this is true about plans on Iran, I want to see how the USA and Britain reacts. I don't care what the UN says. They are irrelevant. Also, all those so called 'moderates' in Iran we keep hearing about, could of course, overthrow all the nutters from the Prez on down through the ayotollahs. If that happens, I know miracles will be happening every day in the ME!

Guts, yes...backing, no. In the mind set of the Arab World is a former dictator hanged...and his sons, dead. The vileness of the Arab world knows the shock and awe of the fourth largest army being conquered in a few weeks. Unfortunately, they also know the weakness of the west lies in its own media.
I think we're celebrating the 1st year anniversary of this plan.
