Actually, this situation has been the historical norm for this area and these people.

If it weren't for the fact they there's so much oil and oil infrastructure extant in the region, we wouldn't even be there, and we doubtless wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole.

We'd simply them kill each other off.

Just my take...

I'm sorry if you bleeive that shallow accusation- despite the fact that we've not proffitted a dime from the oil there & we've been there how many years now? How bout htose countries we're invovled in that don't have oil? Our country is in 80+ countries with military support- Iraq came to us for help from a man as despicable as Hitler- what should we have done? Continued to turn our back as a hitler like monster keep murdering millions? That would have been unconscionable during hitler's reign of terror and it is every bit as unconscionable a thought when confronted with the MASSIVE human rights violations of Saddam and his ilk all over hte world/.
