"Loathe"? That's a good word, I like it 'cuz it sums up my feelings rather succinctly.
Like you, I loathe Hillary and everything she represents, believes in, or stands for. I loathe her with a pure, distilled essence, undiluted from the depths of my eternal soul, but I do not fear her. To know her is to understand the necessity of resisting her evil with all available resources.
McCain on the other hand, scares me silly. There is something of the irrational about him that causes me to break out in a cold sweat whenever I think of him in possession of the nuclear football. It may have been there all along but I feel that his long captivity in Viet Nam left deep and abiding scars. The man has definite anger management problems.
McCain deserves our respect for his service in Viet Nam. I truly think he should be retired to someplace quiet, kept away from scissors and other pointy things, and allowed to diddle his grand kids on his knee.

A lot can happen in a year. A person's health can decline suddenly and dramatically; just look at Sen. Johnson. And he's only 60, whereas McCain is 70 with a history of cancer.
But who does the base have to turn to now that George Allen imploded? The lack of any decent candidate for the base to support scares me - I fear McCain will be elected by default like Dole in 1996. I really hope Gingrich puts something together.
The Age of Men has ended--and the Age of the RINOs is upon us...
McCain sees himself as a free agent ala baseball. He whores himself out to the one that gives him the most tv face time.
Duncan Hunter looks likely to run and he already has his supporters here on FR. There's still several months for viable conservatives to get into the race and see if they attract enough support. I'm keeping an open mind and will be looking more closely at the candidates...when I'm not so policticked-out.
McCain always prostituted himself. Betrayed his oath of office, betrayed his first wife, and would sell out his country in a heartbeat.
I know he's a RINO.
But silly hyperbole doesn't help, and only makes us all look like loons.
the Bush-McCain relationship was so frayed after the 2000 election that in 2001, McCain strategist John Weaver actually sounded out Democratic Senate leaders about having McCain caucus with them. That would have given the Democrats control of the Senate. He goes on to say that it became a moot point when Jeffords left the GOP.
IMO, the GOP establishment has lost its mind to embrace McCain so madly as the Party's 2008 nominee
I understand what you are saying, but I don't recall McCain killing any of his staff and dumping their body in a park and then pretending it was suicide.
Nor do I recall McCain standing next to George Bush and saying, "You can't go pawing through our papers, We ARE the President."
sw
Who, pray tell is Duncan Hunter, other than a representative from CA (had to look it up on Google)? What is his claim to fame? His name recognition doesn't surpass that of Vern Ehlers and at least 6 people know who he is!
Communist torture in Nam?
Yes, for sure he was tortured in Nam but can't place all the blame on the one cause.
Suppose he took one of his raving fits in a crisis, can we afford to take that chance??
I for one can not support Mr. McCain, but I could Duncan Hunter!
This is the only way to explain his ham-handed sponsorship of McCain-Feingold-- a solution in search of a problem if there ever was one.
I'm deeply concerned that he will explode once he advances to the general election and finds out that his supposed buddies in the media will turn on him to elect Hillary. That's why I will back Mitt Romney despite his less than stellar conservative credentials. If he can wound McCain in New Hampshire, Iowa or any of the other early states, we may have another choice.
I just do not see anyone else organized or financed enough to complete with McCain and the GOP establishment in these early primaries.
Hopefully, somebody will emerge within the next few months, but I just don't see the conservatives either well organized or financed enough to stop McCain at this point. An imperfect RINO who works with conservatives on the more important issues is far preferable to an unstable character like McCain.
At age 70+, it's a little late to change character.

Well, I'd just say you're one of those folks who may very well help usher in a new wave of liberal Democrat rule. Enjoy!
It is so easy to flush a leftist out.
We've got conservatives. Real ones. With credentials and face time value behind them. All I ever hear about though is the same three RINO's ad nauseum...
No. No. No... No John. No Rudy. No Mitt. Get it through your heads unless you want a repeat of the Brady Bill Bob Dole election.
