He seems clueless when it comes to one of the issues that his base voters care about – the protection of marriage.

And border control and free speech and originalist judges nominated by the President and..... The man thinks he's President already! Come next year in New Hampshire he's in for a shock - if he even makes it that far!

Also he's one of those "I'm personally opposed to abortion, but I won't do anything to change the law" wafflers.

I'm not much of a fan of McCain either, but some of this is just bizarre.
McCain is all about McCain, he isn't interested in America, he could care less about the safety of America, he could care less about you and me.

Proof? Having a different opinion on an issue does not mean that he "isn't interested in America".

Sure he went out on the campaign trail with President Bush in 04, but didn't you wonder if maybe he was a 'rat in sheep's clothing' to let Kerry know what Bush had planned?

Wow. Tinfoil stuff, there.

And now he's teaming up with Drunk kennedy on an immigration bill, why doesn't he just become a RAT instead of a RINO????

I too am opposed to teaming up with ol Teddy, but it didn't make W a Rat either.

Your valid criticisms of McCain will carry more weight if you don't tarnish them with goofy hyperbole.

If McCain were serious in his efforts to reach the faith-based voter, taking God's name in vain is a stupid thing to do.

Clergyman: I was interested to see a Bible by your bed. You actually find time to read it?

Patton: I sure do. Every goddamn day.

MY OPINION.....where's yours?

You are of course free to have an opinion, just as we are free to comment on it. Surely you aren't suggesting anything to the contrary?

My opinion of McCain isn't very high, but it's based squarely on the issues and not on bizarre conspiracy theories or silly notions like he's not interested in America or her safety.

McQueeg scares the bejeebers out of me. Someone is going to push his crazy button at some function one of these days, and he will go ballistic right before God, the cameras and everyone.

"I think the fence is least effective. But I'll build the g-d--n fence if they want it."

Did McCain actually say this?

McCain will not win, despite his props from the MSM and RINOs. Primaries are decided by the party base, and the GOP party base (ie. conservatives) despises McCain. He couldn't get elected dogcatcher by the GOP base. Period.

I'm looking at Hunter, Brownback and one other whose name escapes me (not a good sign!). McCain gives me the willies, Rudy cheated openly and notoriously on his wife and family, and Romney just isn't impressing me yet. Maybe too plastic a look? I know, I know...

He's a RINO, RINO, RINO, out for McCain, McCain, McCain. IMO, he needs a daily dose of Prozac.

what does it take for people like you to understand that McCain is a RINO....and I'm sure you know what a RINO is...if not, please let me know and I will explain it to you....therefore, being a RINO means that he supports the RATS more than he supports the Republican/Conservative Party and therefore, the RATS DO NOT care about America or anything about it...therefore, McCain does not care about AMERICA.....understand yet?????

>Good analysis. I think it nails it pretty well

An alternative
approach is to say that if
World Nuts Daily thinks

the guy is finished
then probably he will be
our next President.

He couldn't get the nomination in 2000 when most Republicans liked him. Now that a third of the base despises and distrusts him, how could it possibly happen in 2008?

I hope you are right and that the GOP can't be stampeded into supporting McCain like the Democrats were stampeded into supporting Kerry. I do think with all the RINO and establishment backing, he is guaranteed about 30% of the vote without doing anything spectacular.

This means he will be sold as the winner even if, say, 10 alternatives average 7% each. McCain needs to be knocked out early even if the alternative is a less than perfect candidate like Romney or Rudi. Both of these guys, while RINO on a number of important positions, have not likely sold their souls to the Soros-funded 527s who own McCain as well as Hillary.

Hunter is good but Brownback is owned by the pro-slave labour (illegal alien) lobby. Romney may look like a Breck boy, but at least he has accomplished a lot outside government (self-made multimillionaire, saved the 2002 Olympics, pulled Massachusetts out of the economic crapper). I'm not impressed with his apparent social positions or lack thereof, but I'm willing to give him a look and then decide. It could be he just flew under the radar to get elected in Massachusetts.

If McCain is the front runner and gets the GOP nod in 08, I'll support him all the way. I don't agree with him on everything, but he's strong on the WOT. He's not the monster that some Freepers make him out to be.

Write it down: if he gets the nod in 08, many Freepers will swallow their pride and back him.

The base was also ready for a fight over filibusters of judicial nominations, and McCain took that away from them, too.
