McCarrick should have worn a pink cape while he was cardinal of the Washington, DC diocese.

Robert Drinan is also the one who taught the Kennedys and other nominal Catholic Democrat legislators the "I'm personally opposed, but..." nonsense, though I think the idea first began with Cardinal Cushing.

NO, no, no,. Not Cardinal Cushing! Drinan put the personally opposed bit into action while he was in Congress...it was Mario Cuomo who actually put that bilious notion on paper and gave apostates a bush to hide behind whenever abortion came up. Cardinal Bernardin invented the'Seamless Garment' concept for life issues to kill the headway that the pro-life movement was making when he created a moral equivilence between abortion and support for the death penalty. How can anyone who supports legalized murder really be pro-life...blah blah blah. I'll never forgive him for that! I think Bernardin knew exactly what he was doing and i think it was evil.

How can anybody call themselves Catholic while mandating into law the mass murder of the innocent, out-Heroding Herod himself? When she goes into the confessional, what does Madame Speaker confess? How can she accept the Eucharist knowing that she's in a state of sin and rebellion against God? And how in hell can any man who calls himself a Catholic priest, let alone a Cardinal, condone this rebellion?

Politics. Pharisees. Whited sepulchres. Jesus would NOT approve.

"defender of human rights"

What about all the precious babies murdered (over 40 million) by proxy of rancid pus like Pelosi and her ilk (all the Kennedy's and other swine) She either is not a Catholic or the Catholic Church is really for murdering our Creators precious blessings that He creates with his own hands. Abortion is witchcraft, pure and simple.

Not amazing. The MSM understands that there is no risk that a liberal "Catholic" will act in accordance with Roman Catholic doctrine.

Abortion is the easy way out for an extremely selfish and irresponsible society.

Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick, retired archbishop of Washington, said he has known Pelosi in his role as a member of the bishops' Committee on International Policy since she first came to Washington. He said he's always found her to be "a very thoughtful and committed defender of human rights."

Good Lord.

McCarrick's retirement probably wasn't his choice.

Re: "Pelosi is NOT Catholic"

You got that right... she probably had a real sour puss on the face when Joseph Ratzinger was elevated to Benedict XVI.

Sweetest Nancy, did not you know the Catholic cafeteria was/is/always will be closed?

If you didn't then you really are a bafoon.

She and the John Kerry beast should be excommunicated, but what do I know... I'm just a "simple" confirmed Catholic here in the Lone Star State.

***How does the Catholic Church justify supporting people who are very pro-abortion?***

It doesn't! I'd love to hear what was left out of this article.

You don't live where I do. There is active participation among the nuns and priests to combat abortion publicly.

The same Catholics who praise Pelosi will turn around and condemn Rudy Guiliani for being a bad Catholic.

It would be easier to call the article biased and unrepresentative if it had come from a source other than Catholic News Service.

Uh, Nancy dear, you must accept ALL the Church's teachings, not just the "half" that you see fit to agree with. If you promote abortion by supporting legislation that upholds the non-existant "right" of a woman to murder her unborn baby, then you are outside the Church, and the pastor of St. Vincent De Paul Parish ought to consider that when you are in line to receive Communion.
