(We'll just do the Howie Carr live thread from this column post! Death pool today.--RR)
Let the record show, there was a full moon Wednesday night. Perfect weather, in other words, for moonbats, and thats who was out in force yesterday on Beacon Hill.
Gov. Deval Patrick was sworn in, and as he does every four years, Secretary of State Bill Galvin got to yell out, God save the Commonwealth of Massachusetts!
Some years that phrase resonates more than others. Yesterday was one of those days.
If you listened to the entire 17 minutes or so, you dont have to go to church Sunday. Youve heard your sermon for the week. Every time he said, Lets reach for that! (four times, if you were keeping score at home), I reached for my wallet. There are going to be a lot of second collections over the next four years.
Perhaps you missed the inaugural address because you had to work, because you are a - to use a word missing in the speech - taxpayer.
Property tax relief? Didnt Deval mention something about that during the campaign? Forget about property tax relief - did you ever hear the one about the Amistad, or the Mendi Bible? The moonbats lapped it up.
It will take more community-based patrols, after-school and enrichment programs -
Ive got an idea. Midnight basketball!
- summer job and volunteer opportunities for young people.
Anyone remember the old Youth Activities Commission - YAC? Or the CETA program? Training tomorrows hacks today.
- training and pre-release preparation for inmates, and sensible reform of both CORI and sentencing.
Message from Deval to Ben LaGuer: I havent forgotten you, even though I am now going steady with Arline Isaacson. The pardon will soon be in the mail.
We know what to reach for. And we ought to know that either we invest today or we will surely pay excessively tomorrow.
High taxes today, even higher taxes tomorrow.
Oh yeah, Deval is going to reorganize the executive branch. Stop me if youve heard that one before. Just dont mess with the ABCC and the jobs of Rep. Biniendas son or Rep. Kujawskis brother.
I see the young talent and jobs leaving our state, driven away by the high cost of housing.
And youll be seeing a lot of it, too. By the way, wouldnt that have been the perfect opportunity to mention something else thats out of control around here, namely taxes? But new taxes are an investment in the future, as the new governor said at least once.
In his speech, he mentioned the ex-governors up there on the stage, but did Deval consider the fate of Dukakis, Weld, Cellucci and Swift?
Two words come to mind: Situation wanted. These people all need jobs. Something for Deval to ponder is that the last person to really use the governorship as a steppingstone to any greater elective office was Leverett Saltonstall, and he had a bit of help from World War II, when Sen. Henry Cabot Lodge resigned his seat to go off to fight The Big One.
For a very long time we have been told that government is bad, that its job is not important enough to be done by anyone competent, let alone committed. Deval has apparently met some toll takers on the Mass. Pike.
Our constitution is the oldest, and one of the most explicit about individual freedoms.
Thats why Deval felt so bad Tuesday telling the Legislature to feel free to ignore it.
At the end, Deval threw out a laundry list of Democrat-type occupations - student, teacher, bus driver, governor clerk, firefighter. But someone on the staff must have noticed that youre supposed to at least kiss the taxpayers before you bleep them, so he threw in small-business owner.
You cant have a speech like this without mentioning the city on the hill. Deval sees it. So will a lot of other people - in their rear-view mirrors.
God save the Commonwealth of Massachusetts!
btw from another article in Herald: on WRKO, Todd Feinburg will at least be doing the 9-noon show for the time being until a permanent replacement for DePetro can be found (Todd will also do his weekend shows). As for nights:
When no Celtics or Red Sox: Savage at 7 pm, Jerry Doyle at 10 pm
When a 7 pm or similar game happens: Savage at 10 pm and no Jerry Doyle. Presumably when there's a "west coast" game, Savage at 7 pm...
but the Chi town Machine has picked up buddies
and they're gettin ready to forcefeed us downstate a main course of new gun laws.
so don't feel like the lone ranger!
Howie was funny yesterday as he debated using the name "Urkle" vs. his choice, The Deval-uator. Good stuff.
My entire financial plan involves the property value of some Mass. real estate ten years from now. How sad was I yesterday to see this bozo being sworn in...
Thank God for Cap'n Howie Carr.
Deval Patrick is a rapist enabler. His brother-in-law, a convicted rapist, lived under Patrick's "protection" without registering as a sex offender.
Additionally, Patrick himself has a sordid record of being a defender of rapists and murderers during his legal career.
Of course, he won in MA without any problems. I think this tells the average person much more about the perverted state of affairs in MA.
Terry McAwful's new book blasts Kerry for his '04 campaign:
re-pinging everyone, it's showtime
Finneran started crying? Getting no jail time...(but may wind up working for 'RKO)
"Gets no jail time--stop me if you've heard this before.
Remember Good Time Charlie Flaherty? In halls of justice
only justice is in the halls."
DEATH POOL STARTS AT 4:07 everyone
Great piece by the Cap'n today.
Howie's going through the pathos now! How sad it all is! How can he even go on . . .? :)
Dear Sir:
Hiring Democratic politicians who've committed perjury
to be talk hosts? What has the world come to.
