To All,

I'm sorry I didn't see any discussion on this, I check daily, sometimes several times a day, but today was the first I'd heard of it.

I hate to rush to judgement when I don't have the time to wrestle with it, but it did not sound right at all.

Thank you for posting the link to the Washington Times article.

One other bit of information mentioned was that in Mexico, people only draw social security until they have recouped all they have paid in. In the US, of course, if you are eligible, and some people never are (a small minority, and not those who live being paid under the table, but a few who never paid in enough to qualify, it almost happened to me), you collect until you die.

I've been wondering about prescriptions for seniors. I was willing to pay my own way if I can, but now I'm on medicare. I asked my son where are the medicines for seniors paid for by the government? The insurance supplement you sold me pays all or part of them, and I have to pay for that. "Oh, that's how it works. You have to buy a supplement and the government pays the insurance companies." (I happened to look at what else was on the website, and it is true that for me, the cost of living increase is being eaten up by the extra premium for my supplement which is deducted from my monthly ss). But that's just an aside. The major topic here sounds more threatening to the health of the fund.

Too much information to sort through! I thought I was for amnesty under certain limited conditions or a guest worker program, but now I think something is going on behind the scenes that is not in the interest of we the people.

You know the pharmaceutical companies give away medications based on need. One of my friends sells cancer drugs and told me about it. I got this from the MI atty general website
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~``
LEGITIMATE FREE DRUG RESOURCES
If you cannot afford prescription drugs, you do not have to pay for information about patient assistance programs that provide free drugs to those who qualify. There are free resources available.
Ask your doctor or other health care provider about free drug programs. Your doctor's office may have information or can explain how you can get information.
Consumers may also contact the Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA). PPA is a partnership of drug companies, doctors, health care providers, patient advocacy organizations, and community groups who have combined their resources to help qualifying uninsured consumers get free medicine from various public and private patient assistance programs. PPA is a one-stop shopping concept that offers consumers access to more than 275 public and private patient assistance programs, including more than 150 programs offered by pharmaceutical companies.
To contact PPA, consumers may call toll free 1-888-477-2669, or visit the PPA Web site at www.pparx.org.
