The only possible reason for the whole argument to even come up is because if it's not a *person* then killing it is not murder. Therefore, one can do what one wants to that embryo with a *clear* conscience and no fear of moral or ethical consequences. Then it opens the door for abortion, embryonic stem cell research, and all manner of other evils done against a human being in the name of science and progress.

I wonder, do you know when the human spirit takes up residence with the alive embryo or fetal aged human organism? [Note please, I'm not asking about the soul of life, I am asking about the human spirit.] Do you know who might know the answer to this? What difference does it make when the human *spirit* enters a body? If it's alive and it's human, then killing it is murder, regardless of when someone thinks a spirit or sould takes up residence.

I think it depends on what you mean by soul. I think you are a plantonist.

5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

When Does Life Begin?A Catholic priest, an Episcopalian minister, and a rabbi are all asked this question.
The priest says, "Clearly, at the moment of conception, we have a viable human being. So life begins at conception."
The minister says, "No, it's not a human being until it's born. Like begins once we're outside the womb!"
Finally, the rabbi says, "You're both wrong! Life begins when the kids move out and all the pets die!!"

Wonderful read, thank you. It's unfortunate that, despite Dr. Lejeune's impeccable credentials, most pro-aborts will dismiss everything he has to say because he's a Catholic.

One cell is NOT a human.
To: Popman
1000% correct.
It's a human life at the moment of conception. Just as it is a dog, whale or elephant at the moment of conception. Human beings make human beings- nothing else. No human ever has been pregnant with anything other than a human baby.
If there is NO life at two days, or two weeks, or two months-why is it necessary to kill it?
A baby in the womb is not a tumor. Tumors/tissue masses do not have hearts that stop.
Call it murder for convenience- but one can't claim the right to kill that which isn't alive.

When does life begin?
I've said it before. If either Mars rover had happened upon a minute-old fetus, the scientific community would have claimed life had been discovered on Mars.
Seems like that should answer that question.
