I'm trying not to be naive here but a dead child deserves the benefit of the doubt

Why? It's the rest of the family I'm thinking of. If you're a citizen in a new country, then you bury your dead in the new country. If you're a transient or an illegal immigrant then it's back to the old country. This is a side issue anyway more on the lines of how widespread illegal immigration is.

My grandmother came here in 1915 at the age of 15. Lived here all of her life. Died in 1994. She wanted to be buried w/ her parents. Shipped her ashes back to Florence.

Does that make her less of an American in your eyes?
