I'm wondering if Bush's advisors understand that this is a wedge issue, and the GOP candidate running to be his successor will lose on this issue alone? A very large number of people don't want an amnesty program for illegals.

"Beware: The open borders lobby, designed to create a climate of fear for Americans tempted to speak out in defense of their nation against amnesty-again, will be in high gear in 2007. On illegal immigration, the president has found new friends. Beware..within the next few weeks, more Illegal Civil rights Marches will be taking place led by our Pastors and Priests.
I pray this gets National nonstop coverage and attention..

Quite frankly I don't think that the illegals care about amnesty all they want is to get in,take, steal and than leave this country looking like a third world country after they destroyed it.

Only 4 more years of worrying about open borders. After that, there won't be any.

If true then why did voters vote in nancy pelosi and the democrats and that 1/3 of the GOP of Tancredos's immigration caucus, lost.

The INS/Border Patrol should also be severely reformed or privatized. They created this problem through incompetent enforcement both at the border and inland as well. Their naturalization process is horribly incompetent too. There is no need to continually employ people who do do this poorly. They are the problem. Perhaps future employees should be motivated by performance based compensation.
Perhaps we should kill 2 birds with 1 stone and retask the BATF to do their work.

Does anyone remember the outrage of 1999 when El Cenizo, Texas, not only resolved to grant safe haven to all illegal aliens from Mexico, but made Spanish the town's official language? Me neither.
I do.
Believe it or not but
60 Minutes (tick-tick-tick) did a whole segment on it. They actually 'acted' outraged as I recall.
Pretty sure that's about the last time I watched the show.

Dane, how many should we take in? Should a young child born in Mexico dream be that he can run a leaf blower in the USA, and leave his homeland? Should all of the land mass south of the Rio Grande be sparsely populated, with only the elderly and elite living off the receipts sent back home? The entire Latin American block of countries need to move into the 21st century and quit relying on the US to take their problems.
And how about these dual citizens? Will they vote for the best interests of America or their homeland? Could I be given voting rights in Mexico to even out the impact here? Of course that's not only to happen.

Maybe we should change the word. Maybe people in the US think illegal really means legal.
I propose right here and now that henceforth illegal aliens become knows as criminal aliens.
Now, that there is a wording everyone should understand, maybe even the Whitehouse and the Congress.

Listen folks you have to get with the program. This nation doesn't belong to Americans, it belong to illegal criminal invaders. When the going gets tough, let the illegal criminal invaders have the country. Our politicians on both sides of the isle think being an American citizen can only happen if you invade the nation for the freebies. Get used to it!!! and remember it's for the children!! Be certain you tell the children it's for them as crime increases and more people are raped and or killed, and more illegal activities increase. It's for the children!!

I agree with you and steps in reform are happening especially with the election of Claderon, also the problem ain't going to be solved be building a neo-Berlin wall.

If true then why did voters vote in nancy pelosi and the democrats and that 1/3 of the GOP of Tancredos's immigration caucus, lost. I will tell you why. The liberal party pretended to be ALLLL about border security, remember when the House first passed that Border bill and the "I AM" Senator Clinton said about it, that IF the Republicans in the House could they would make Jesus illegal.
Well the night before these liberals 'Foleyized' the morals voters, the great and vaulted Clinton voted for that very 'anti-Jesus' House Border Security bill. That House Border Security bill got 80 YES votes 19 NAY and the big daddy of immigration Ted Kennedy did not vote.

We will become a third world country..private schools..private hospitals..armed guards....slaves and hookers..Favelas or Bario's...corrupt governments..corrupt police...cash economy...the very rich..the very poor...15% unemployment....I could go on and on....a great country to look forward to..
To: southlake_hoosier
I agree. In the recent past, I have used the term "illegal invaders" as well. The term alien was considered offensive by the criminals. Maybe they thought we were confusing them with space creatures?

The GOP front runners- McCain and Rudy are for this. Romney seems to be sticking his finger in the wind to follow the political tides.

"If true then why did voters vote in nancy pelosi and the democrats and that 1/3 of the GOP of Tancredos's immigration caucus, lost." I said a "large number" not a majority. Enough to cause a loss for the GOP.
