Exactly! We should follow through and punish these treasonous acts, and since Bill Clinton authorized stealing of national papers, he should be prosecuted and punished along with the burglar.

President Bush treats the three branches with honor and respect which is definitely a breath of fresh air from the last administration.
Unfortunately, honor and respect does not play an important part in securing our liberties. Separating from and severely dishing out punishment to those servants (Who represent us) that break the law helps ensure the proper function of our government.
Honor and respect is the last thing that should be shown when corruption abounds. I think Pres. Bush goes a little too much out of his way to reach out domestically, I understand it but I am thrilled with it.

I thought the Clintonistas testified before the 9/11 Commission that they told the new Bush administration EVERYTHING about AQ? Oh, you mean they lied? Color me shocked. /sarcasm

Later, Berger said if he had been asked to return the file "it would have triggered a decision for him to give the documents back."
What a convoluted response.

I am trying to locate media information of the clinton administration being given access to documents in prep for 911 commission hearing.
I found this rather interesting.
The 911 Commission report documents a proposal made in 1999 to send a U-2 mission over Afghanistan to gather intelligence on where bin Laden was hiding (page 134). Mr. Clarke objected on the grounds that Pakistani intelligence would tip bin Laden off that the U.S. was planning a bombing mission. "Armed with this knowledge," the report quotes Mr. Clarke as saying, "old wily Usama will likely boogie to Baghdad."

Unlikely it was Gorelick. She was on the 911 commission, and the "impartial judge" can't appear to be abetting a false witness. (Note: "can't appear" does NOT mean "cannot", in Clinton speak.)

I don't know what disgusts me more, Berger/Clinton's corruption or the Bush Justice department's corruption. A fine and suspension of security clearance for three years for stealing and destroying classified documents?? It makes me want to throw up, because you or I would be looking at concrete block and steel bars for years.Needed to be repeated.

This is so maddening. Once again, if this had been a Republican administration engaging in this devious and deceivious criminal activity this scandal would be huge news. It would be bigger than Watergate. The stink of it would have infected Hillary and every other person remotely associated with the Clinton White House. It would be blasted all over the airwaves and in every newspaper. Instead it's hardly making a blip. No media bias here.
To: Howlin; Mo1
imho...Berger still has the papers, hence the slap on the wrist and an opportunity to stay in the game in 2008. I wonder where he's hidden them and who will receive them in the event he meets with Arkancide?

Nothing will happen and this will fade into oblivion. Treason is no longer possible because loyalty to this nation to many in government is complex. The order of loyalty may look like this: money, self, party, special interest and maybe country.
We need more good people in government desperately.
These docs connected Clinton to mujahideens in Bosnia through his dealings with Iran.

It's a true testament to Clintoon's gift of the gab that he could suggest to Berger that he destroy any classified documents in the library that might incriminate him without saying anything directly that could be used later in a court of law to implicate him in the act - probably leaving Berger with the impression that it was all his own idea. It's the same "strategy" he used with Vernon Jordan to get Monica a posh job with some uppity Manhattan company--Revlon? (don't remember)...to basically buy her silence...t'was just like Bill to do so! He's got "gifts" all right!

Another reason I regret that I voted for Bush! Wish we had had a real Republican to run instead of him. I'm afraid there are no more "real Republicans" left in leadership positions. I don't hold much hope for our side winning much in the next few years. We were in charge of everything & we let this crap happen & then - just a slap on the wrist!
I'm completely disgusted with our political situation right now.
To: Jim Robinson
Berger should have been extensively "debriefed" about all of these details now just emerging.
Within a week or two we should have known just what documents went missing and what they contained, and who set it up.
The investigation into Watergate was much more thorough and a bit speedier, too.
I don't think that Clinton will be smirched by this at all, though. In a world where a major newspaper brags about releasing classified info this Berger case will not upset any applecarts.

My opinion is, and has been, the Clintons must have a lot of dirt on Bush.
I think so also. The missing FBI files. What worries me is what has Bush done that is so bad?
