WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush has not seen the illicit video of Saddam Hussein's execution because he is focused on the "way forward" in Iraq, the White House said on Wednesday.
Iraqi officials are facing criticism over a video of Saddam's hanging, apparently filmed on a mobile phone, that shows Shi'ite officials mocking the former Iraqi leader on the gallows. It angered Saddam's fellow Sunni Arabs and sparked international condemnation.......
How about a little damned LEADERSHIP once in a while!
Why do you think it so necessary for Pres. Bush to view a pirated cellphone video???
bump
President Bush is a Christian. Christianity forbids us to take delight in our enemy's demise. It seems completely in line with his belief system.
Your condemnation of the President on this is, frankly, just plain silly.
You equate LEADERSHIP with a viewing of the cell phone tape?
Intersting.........
another bump
SNL is still on?
LOL...bump
Sorry, but the content of that video is important from a political point of view, considering the charges made and effects of the recorded behavior.
Not to view it is to be irresponsibly uninformed.
Oh...puh-llllleeeze.
Pres. Bush is plenty informed...he doesn't need to see a shaky cellphone video to know what is going on.
Just out of curiosity...have YOU seen the video in question?
Agree 100%.
It is curious that President Bush wouldn't want to see the execution of someone who tried to assassinate his dad.
Remember, Saddam ordered a hit on President G.H.W. Bush.
To view it and remark on it would also have political ramifications.
It would suggest that somehow, America and President Bush are responsible for the verdict and sentence. We were not. President Bush is simply showing respect for the Iraqi justice system as a separate entity than our ownin other words, this is Iraqi business, not our business and it is not our place to spend time or energy on it.
Sometimes I really think folks don't think this stuff through beyond the "me, me, me" part. What happens in the world isn't always about us. This is one of those times.
I'm sure an advisor made him aware of its existence.
Or should he "trust, but verify"?
Are you an idiot?
No. The Iraqis tried him, convicted him and put him to death. I am glad justice was served.
Beyond that, it is not my business and does nothing to further enhance my understanding of the situation.
Pirated? Anyway, I'm sure Bush has watched this. The entire affair is an effect of what good we have done over there, Them saying he hasn't seen it is little more than diplospeak for the international masses.
Oh please.
His initial response was in relationship to how the Iraqi justice system performed their duties under their newly minted constitution. I thought his statement was very appropriate and respectful.
Welcome to Free Republic by the way.
LOL!
That's cutting to the chase.
