President Bush pardoned 16 criminals including five drug dealers at Christmastime, but so far has refused to pardon the two U.S. Border Patrol agents who were trying to defend Americans against drug smugglers. It makes us wonder which side the self-proclaimed "compassionate" president is on.

About sums it up I'd say.

Ramos and Compean were convicted mainly on the testimony of the immunity-sheltered drug smuggler, whose integrity should have been called into question, but Ramos and Compean were forbidden to do that during the trial.

I'm curious. How, and by whom, were the agents' lawyers forbidden to challenge the credibility of a witness against them? If true, which I doubt, this case will be thrown out on appeal.

The White House and the U.S. Department of Justice are stonewalling requests for a presidential pardon from 55 members of Congress and U.S. citizens who have sent at least 160,000 petitions and 15,000 faxes. When the Bush administration deigns to respond at all, the official line is that the Border Patrol agents got a fair trial.

Glad to see members of congress and some good Americans are hitting the president hard over this.

T.J. Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council. said: "There is a palpable sense of outrage and betrayal. Here, you have five convicted drug dealers being pardoned, and two Border Patrol agents, who were doing their job, fighting the war on drugs on the front lines, and they're going to prison."

"This case is a test of Bush's character, compassion, and concern for drugs coming across our border. He can't duck responsibility: the prosecutor, U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, and the judge, Kathleen Cardone, are both Bush appointees."

Follow the money. Drug smugglers have money, Border Patrol agents do not.

This president is just leading the way for the elites to take & control everything from the low & middle class. The charade of this "Two-Party Cartel" making one think that they are makng a different choice is ludicrous. You all keep voting in this cartel & you got what you deserve.

At the presiding judges discretion almost anything goes. This case would be thrown out on appeal except it isn't going to be appealed. This is a political case and the powers that be have put a lot of resources into this predetermined outcome. They aren't going to allow a puny public defender to overturn these convictions.

I checked the links that are supposed to show what bad guys the border agents were. They didn't sell drugs, rape anyone, steal anything, or even kill anyone. They defended the U.S. border. It's a military zone. If you don't want to get hurt, obey the orders of the men who defend it.

So, this drug-dealer got shot in the butt trying to escape, after he was pulled over. How did Chris Rock put it? "If the poh-leese have to chase you, they bringin' a a**-kickin' with them!"

I have no problem with "hot-lead" pursuit of border-crossers who refuse to stop when our agents tell them to do so. Tell our friend with the insulted rear end to try that s**t on the Mexican border with Guatemala.

They lied on their reports and removed evidence from the scene.

How did Chris Rock put it?

I don't care.

I hope Bush pardons these two men just so people like me can laugh at your no-doubt nutty reaction.

Avoiding the topic of your own thread? Typical.

"Avoiding the thread topic again, hypocrite?"

Not at all, dipstick.

"Quit chasing my heels like an oft-kicked puppy."

You have round heels, easy to chase since you usually tip over early in the race.

"Follow forum rules or you might get Travised."

Gee, you must have been appointed Admin Mod or something. How else to explain your sudden interest in the forum rules? Hint: you might try following them yourself.

You really are fixated on Travis. If you want to make an appointment with him, I'll try to arrange it...
