No resignation required. Once determined that he cannt fulfill his duties a replacement can be named.

I wonder if the Dimbulbs can remember "Schiavo". They crucified the Pubs, including that eminent surgeon Bill Frist, touting their ignorance and emotionalism over truth justice and the scientific way.

They'll follow the Pelosi way to cement their power!

Arrgh!

In fact it would violate the US Constitution to not allow a replacement to represent the state in the US Senate, because each state is guaranteed equal sufferage in the Senate.

Article V.

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.

The GOP will remain silent. Johnson will have to be incapacitated for at least a year before the GOP will think they have enough cover to pursue an appointment to replace him.

It is just not in their makeup to be crude & crass and driven for power the way the Dims are.....I wish they were!!

If this same scenario was playing out and the party was REVERSED, the DIMS AND their DBM cohorts would be screaming for the governor to appoint a replacement!! It would be the NUMBER ONE STORY in the nation!!

Yet the Senate acted on unanimous consent. Not one of them would block that effort for fear of their careers.

Wanna bet? Constitutionally there is no provision for removing a living, breathing, sitting senator except through impeachment or resignation.

Can you imagine Johnsons' wife saying something to the effect of " I remember that my husband told me once when we were first married that he didn't wan't to be on a ventilator"!!! NOT on YOUR LIFE..."What comes around goes around"
