Big h/t to reader PJG.
Does it get any more foul than this? During the 8 AM ET hour of Don Imus's show this morning he and Mike Barnicle fantasized about how various Republicans would react to being hung on the gallows.
Note: this item was prepared from the closed-caption transcript. It will be reviewed and corrected as appropriate in the course of the morning.Imus: "I tried to imagine how members of the various current administration members would behave were they subjected to the gallows as Saddam Hussein was. I can see Rumsfeld . . . "
Barnicle: "He wouldn't take it."
Imus: "No blindfold for Rumsfeld."
Barnicle: "F-you. You go to the gallows with the noose you want, with the noose you have, not the noose you want. Whatever."
Imus: "That's exactly right. Just as that trap door opens, he drops an f-bomb to all of them."
Barnicle: "How about Cheney?"
Imus: "I don't think he would make it up the steps. This is a guy that would wet his pants and whine and start crying."
Barnicle: "He would order as a last meal 400 pounds of bacon."
Imus: "This guy has six diplomas to get out of Vietnam because he had, what was the phrase he used -- he had some more important issues to deal witH. He got his wife pregnant just to keep him out of dealing with this. Wolfowitz would cry."
Barnicle: "He would be shot in the back running away."
Imus: "Exactly."
Barnicle: "Or some of the other players."
Imus: "Richard Perle."
Barnicle: "Oh, God. He would soil himself."
Imus: "Can't you see him being dragged up by his shirt?"
Barnicle: "And a combover hanging over down the side of his head."
In one of the oddest transitions, Barnicle then asks: "Everybody well in your family, your kids, wife, all that?
Imus: "Thank God, everybody is, and I hope everybody is in your household and everybody else's household, because the health of your family, everything else pales in comparison. If you draw a breath in the morning, you're ahead of the day."
Such wonderful family values, these guys.
Finkelstein was in Iraq in November. Contact him at mark@gunhill.net
I thought he went to the Herald.
Lasted there for less than a year. Was given the title "Fictional columnist" by Howie Carr at the Herald.Barnicle is on Boston radio, and it is the worst show in Boston. He is the biggest name-dropper I've ever heard.Yuck!
Some are more susceptible to propaganda than others, BDS seems to be the first symptom.
Schadenfreude: in Boston, WTKK is cutting out one hour
of Imus' show and chopping Barnicle's show in half (decision
made before all this):
What is on after Barnicle at ten?
Was it your New Year's resolution to be obtuse or, has it been a lifelong commitment? ;O)
Watching a washed up, cud-chewing, name dropping, faux cowboy is not my idea of entertainment.
A friend of mine used to watch him and told me to tune in several years agao.
I did, and he was smashing a piece of pottery some fan had sent him because that fan had spelled his name wrong. I thought then, he was acting like a child throwing a tantrum. I haven't watched him since.
As far as I am concerned watching him is about as enlightening as watching "The View," and I don't watch it either.
I caught the first minute of Olbermann before I could change the channel..and Keith was saying that Bush's "new policy" for Iraq doesn't include training more Iraqis..
It is supplying more American troops for the insurgents to kill....
The whole network has set it's goal, and method of attracting viewers by being crude, treasonous, and anti-anything remotely conservative.
Failing to defend the indefensible makes you a jack booted thug?
Well then, count me in as a jack booted thug.
Lighten up, Laz. They were doing nothing more or less than what some guys might discuss over coffee.
Who hasn't wondered how they might act as they approached the gallows?
No doubt bolstered by the past November elections.

What did I fail to defend? I defend free speech.
There's a difference. They are media icons. One of them claims nonpartisanship. They are doing this exercise in ghoulishness over airwaves sponsored by companies that -- by implication -- endorse the thoughts.
I cannot give it a pass.
So it was mental onanism.
Agreed. The show would improve if Imus just left.
Having said that, I missed that this AM on the show. BTW, I listen to it on the radio, I rarely watch it.
There was a thread earlier that had misidentified the guest on Imus. Some were calling for him to be banned. That's a jack-booted thug.
You completely misread it
It's not your "failure to defend". That's on the part of those that you condemn.
Without hatred, the left has nothing. It's their platform.
For what it's worth, I believe in free speech.
Comments made on Imus' show will aide the enemy--if they are one of the three people that actually listen or watch Don Imus.
