Imus, Barnicle Fantasize About Republicans on Gallows: Cheney Would 'Wet His Pants'

Posted by Mark Finkelstein on January 3, 2007 - 10:05.

Big h/t to reader PJG.

Does it get any more foul than this? During the 8 AM ET hour of Don Imus's show this morning he and Mike Barnicle fantasized about how various Republicans would react to being hung on the gallows.

Note: this item was prepared from the closed-caption transcript. It will be reviewed and corrected as appropriate in the course of the morning.Imus: "I tried to imagine how members of the various current administration members would behave were they subjected to the gallows as Saddam Hussein was. I can see Rumsfeld . . . "

Barnicle: "He wouldn't take it."

Imus: "No blindfold for Rumsfeld."

Barnicle: "F-you. You go to the gallows with the noose you want, with the noose you have, not the noose you want. Whatever."

Imus: "That's exactly right. Just as that trap door opens, he drops an f-bomb to all of them."

Barnicle: "How about Cheney?"

Imus: "I don't think he would make it up the steps. This is a guy that would wet his pants and whine and start crying."

Barnicle: "He would order as a last meal 400 pounds of bacon."

Imus: "This guy has six diplomas to get out of Vietnam because he had, what was the phrase he used -- he had some more important issues to deal witH. He got his wife pregnant just to keep him out of dealing with this. Wolfowitz would cry."

Barnicle: "He would be shot in the back running away."

Imus: "Exactly."

Barnicle: "Or some of the other players."

Imus: "Richard Perle."

Barnicle: "Oh, God. He would soil himself."

Imus: "Can't you see him being dragged up by his shirt?"

Barnicle: "And a combover hanging over down the side of his head."

In one of the oddest transitions, Barnicle then asks: "Everybody well in your family, your kids, wife, all that?

Imus: "Thank God, everybody is, and I hope everybody is in your household and everybody else's household, because the health of your family, everything else pales in comparison. If you draw a breath in the morning, you're ahead of the day."

Such wonderful family values, these guys.

Don't ya just love free speech?

Yep. And the solution is not to listen to Imus. If he wants to talk this way, even more reason not to listen. I put "discussions" like the one Imus had with Barnicle on par with rap being considered music.

Stern used to call Imus' show (Stern was the evening drive DJ while Imus held the coveted morning drive on WNBC-AM). Imus was told he wasn't funny and that he truly sucked. Imus was stunned publicly and livid off-air. The movie Private Parts didn't really touch on the animosity and slam fest Stern had with Imus. It actually painted a neutral picture of a long battle.

Stern didn't have a good week without once mentioning that Imus was a has-been...a mean little prick...and a no talent with an equally bad writing staff that he [Stern] would bury in the ratings. And when Stern buried Imus, the slam-fest grew. Drunk. Addict. Loser. Payola. Teenybopper chaser. Incoherent delivery. Mindless pointless meanderings off a given topic. OLD.

Stern would talk about Imus' golden years and then say that was long ago but the ego never left him.

IRC, Stern and his staff would incorporate Imus into comedy bits such as the Elvis channeling, Mama Lookaboobooday, and the Rabbi and Bearnice.

Man, I wish I kept those cassettes of Stern from the early 1980s. The Elvis bit and For Goyim Only were the funniest IMO. Ironically, Imus' reaction to Stern is similar to the reaction some on this thread have toward any criticism of Imus...makes you wonder.

I'm all for free speech and all that.

That includes the spewers not being protected from the reaction they provoke in what they spew. Imus and Barnicle are scum.

BTW, leadpenny is a guy. 'Pod.

LOL, and I suspect many more than one here hide behind and under MSM skirts, especially Olberman and Matthews.

Fascinating to keep track of their talking points on this forum, the day after they spout them.

Perhaps I am mistaken.

In #39, Laz questions leadpenny's right to ask Roses of Sharon how he/she would be feeling walking to the gallows?

In the context of the thread, it is an innocent question, IMO...yet she is chastized for accepting Imus' and Banrnicle's circle-jerk as "entertainment".

Sorry for offending anyone.

Joe opened with the troops have turned against the war and was saying something about a survey the military newspaper took that showed they have turned on the war and on Bush... I turned it off right then and there.

This exchange between Imus and Barnicle is unconscionable.

Why would you defend this?....merciful goodness, how can you call this entertainment???????

To defend this and these two sorry excuses for men....is beyond the pale.

Perhaps I am mistaken.

Outstanding. A person is not defined by their mistakes, but by the responses to them. My respect for you has grown -- thank you for being gracious. I'll have my most objectionable comment to you pulled, too.

What's almost as sick is that Freepers who have been around a long time on this forum are sticking up for the mainstream media as they give aid and comfort to our enemies in a time of war.

kristinn...it was time to call MSNBC the treason network, a long time ago...

I have never seen a network that gets away with having it's own show hosts misrepresenting, misquoting, or downright lying like MSNBC.

CNN is anti-war and anti-military...but MSNBC is more fake than Saturday Night Live Newsdesk.

Ha! Nobody but Northeast moonbat liberals takes this guy's political views seriously. They change with whatever winds are blowing at the time. He's just trying to keep up with his child bride, Diedre. That's her on the right next to fat Teddy the intern killer. Imus claims to be a registered Republican. Let him spew. He also skewers Kerry and his other nancy boy posse quite well.

Without the ratings or humor...and that's hard to imagine seeing that SNL News is sadly referred to as sketch comedy.

The weak at heart become clear at times of very tough work.

Or just plain ol BDS, propaganda, and wanting to "fit in" with the "cool" crowd in DC and Hollywood.

I'm offended that people on this thread keep calling Imus "entertainment." I'm highly offended. Who do I call at MSNBC to rectifying this gross misuse of the word?

"You call this entertainment: Watching an incoherent has-been try to pull words together to form a thought...ARRRRGGGHHH!!!!!"
