Unsuccessful Ford assassin says she regrets act, mourns his death

DUBLIN, Calif. - A woman who once tried to assassinate President Gerald Ford says she regrets the murder attempt and joins Americans in mourning his recent death.

Sara Jane Moore was only 40 feet away from Ford outside the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco when she fired a single shot at him on Sept. 22, 1975.

As she raised her .38 caliber revolver, Oliver Sipple, a disabled former U.S. Marine who was standing next to her, pushed up her arm as the gun discharged. The bullet flew over Ford's head by several feet, ricocheted off the side of the hotel and slightly wounded a cab driver in the crowd.

"I am very glad I did not succeed. I know now that I was wrong to try," Moore, now 76, told KGO-TV on Tuesday in a phone interview from a federal prison in Dublin, where she's serving a life term for the attempted assassination.

Sounds like a typical DUmmie.

Sara Jane Moore was a far-left wacko, yet after her attempt to kill the President nobody in the media called for a crackdown on far-left groups (and there were no demands for them to cool their rhetoric). Could you imagine what the media would have been demanding if the situation was reversed?

Hey, it'll look good at her parole hearing.

What is life there? Here, with good time, they can get out in 20 years.

Moore said she was blinded by her radical political views at the time, convinced that the government had declared war on the left. "I was functioning, I think, purely on adrenalin and not thinking clearly. I have often said that I had put blinders on and I was only listening to what I wanted to hear," she told KGO.

Hmmmm....sounds a lot like rabid anti-Bush people today.

She's 76 now, what a wasted life. Sad, sad, sad.

However, she should not be paroled, ever, except to a nursing home when she's so old she can no longer wipe her own butt.

Fromme was one of Charles Manson's buddies.

A Scientologist, maybe, as well. (Manson was an early Scientologist; not exactly high on their list of celeb. endorsements.)

Can they be exported somewhere? Think of what it could do to the balance of payments!

That answered my question.

Thanks. I was only 13 y.o. at the time.

....... Interesting time to grow up.

NOT!

(Not too long ago, a lib co-worker was mystified why I couldn't WAIT to vote for Reagan just a few months after I turned 18.)

I just KNEW that Reagan would return sanity to America. At that point, I had had ENOUGH of the psycho madness.

It seemed then that the radical leftists were going to use force and terrorism to take over America. It seems that now the commmies have outsourced their domestic terror agenda to the islam!cs.

I am willing to take her at her word that she has seen the error of her ways and regrets her actions. However-the question that was previously asked on this thread is pertinent: what would have happened if a rightie had taken a shot at a Democrat president? The legacy media would be screaming for a crackdown, but deluded lefties can issue all sorts of deranged threats against a Republican president without the DBM batting an eye.
