WASHINGTON Gerald R. Ford leaves his beloved U.S. Capitol for the last time Tuesday as the period set aside for ordinary Americans to say goodbye gives way to an elaborate invitation-only funeral at the awe-inspiring Washington National Cathedral.
As the first order of business Tuesday, Ford's remains were being removed from the Rotunda to lie in repose briefly outside the Senate before leaving the Capitol where Ford served as a congressman for 25 years. As vice president, Ford also had the constitutional title of president of the Senate.

What is the significance? I must know...:)
I saw the whole thing on the CSPAN website, but that was a couple of hours ago.
I'll be ok .. it's not that far of a drop
I've done worse .. *L*
Okay. I would have to say the most poignant and memorable moment was President Bush escorting Mrs. Ford to the front of the church today.
When CBS Katie Couric described the pre-service atmosphere as a "cocktail party atmosphere" I switched channels on a non-cable TV. Perhaps ex-42 and his family were acting like that, but there is a difference between being glad to see old friends at a funeral and a "cocktail party atmosphere."
BTW .. one more thing
I didn't see Harry Reid at the funeral
I didn't either --- isn't he in Peru?
One more photo .. check out Hellary's face
Today was supposed to be Pelosi's coronation starting date...did she make it to the funeral first???
Little children love to go up to the priest with their parents. Just consider yourself a second-grader in CCD class - a little tall for your age!
She was at the funeral
Prune face...
She looks like a chipmunk when she talks...and I have never seen a chipmunk with prune face before....LOL
SOUR PUSS!
Oh yeah...
Hmm....I guess it probably won't take her too long to get to Baltimore for some of today's ceremonies...like the naming of a street after her!!
MY laptop won't allow it to pop up. No idea why.
I clicked on WATCH next to President Bush's photo and nothing happens.
I missed the first half hour of the service & hoped to view a replay on cspan.
Dumbstruck as to why cox cable has removed cspan.
You're right ... I'm often amazed at how so many don't know our basic history
Miss Smarty Pants.
Chelsea's expression isn't too cool, either.
There was probably something (in teeny tiny typeface) in your last cable bill saying what the lineup was going to be for 2007. I have Cox as well, but here in the DC area there's no question of losing CSPAN - we even have it on the radio!
