WKAT-AM (1360) will launch a Christian talk and teaching format on Jan. 1 with a lineup of popular ministry programs.
''Since entering Miami in 2005, we have looked for an opportunity to offer South Florida listeners quality Christian talk programming,'' said Joe D. Davis, executive vice president of California-based Salem Communications, corporate owner of WKAT.
Shows will touch on issues such as relationships and family concerns, as well as Biblical faith. Hosts include James Dobson and Pastor Chuck Swindoll.
It sounds like LAZY TALK to me. WKAT didn't want to go out and SELL ads for their programs so they went the LAZY way and sold out to Pay for Pray. Meanwhile they dumped some quality talk radio.
Wasn't Dick Syatt on WKAT many years ago? Once of the worst talk show hosts ever. Thankfully, he left the station and has since faded into total obscurity.
In Chicago we have religious sports talk.
PRaying good Rex shows up in 2 weeks.
The WKAT signal is constantly drowned out by the signal of a Haitian station where a screaming Haitian sounds like he is trying to shout out WKAT's meager signal.
Don't know him.
I do not see what you are so worked up about this? Perhaps another local station will pick up these shows that you are talking about? Till then, you can always go online and listen to their shows.
Syatt was a real jerk. His show was incredibly boring. Day after day it was just looking at another angle of sex. It got so bad that Syatt made sex seem boring. Ironically, Syatt himself was the least sexy guy in the universe. No woman in her right mind would want to have sex with him which might be why he was so obsessed with it.
Not when I am outside. I really enjoyed Laura Ingraham. I wouldn't be so mad if WIOD got some brains and replaced the dopey Glenn Beck with her.
Laura Ingraham used to be on a local station that went all-sports. I think it was 1400 on the AM dial. What happened with that station since then?
Salem Communications has owned & operated Christian radio stations for decades. The change isn't so surprising.
You are so right! SCTV was 1,000 times better than SNL..some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen was on SCTV. Can you recall Guy Cabellero, Tex and Edna's Organ Emporium, Lola Heatherton and Edith Prickley, to name a few, without a smile? Do you know if they are available on DVD?
I see replays on the tube every once in awhile. I also liked CCCTV with Soviet minicams the size of gigigantic cameras.
LOL! I wish they'd show the reruns here in upstate NY! I love how Guy Cabellero used a wheelchair for "respect".
Thanks!!!!
Here in Phx we have a Christian radio station that seems to do pretty good - but we also have a conservative talk station that has most of the popular shows on it. I hope you can find your Laura and Michael - there is always XM radio if nothing else fails.
Thanks, I almost had cheez-its all over my monitor screen with that comment!
FYI, I love this link for finding shows on the internet:
