It's not only the United States who armed Saddam but the World Community too.
Try to Remember that.
We should of done something to Saddam back in the 1990's while Clinton was in office. Containing Saddam in a box with UN Sanctions did not work because the man was able to work outside the box.
Saddam did not allowed any aid to go to his people but manage to get weapons from other sources like trading oil for weapons from the Serbs. Since the Serbs became the bad guys under the Clinton Administration they had to supply their men with weapons some how.
Saddam was using his people as political pawns. 600,000 Iraqi children died under UN sanctions because they did not have food or medical care.
UN gave humanitarian aid to Iraq but they never recieved it. Saddam resold it to finance his war machine right under Clinton's watch.
Clinton caused more recruitment for future Jihadist because our foriegn policy actions or inactions.
Just take a look at OBL's 1996 Fatwa. He blames the United States for the Iraqis misery and causing grief for Arabs. Our planes were based on Saudi Arabia and we were flying NFZ patrols.
US and UK were in a full scale war according to OBL. I didn't hear too much about this on the main stream news and it was a great shame.
If I knew what was going on I would write to my congressman to solve the humantarian crisis in Iraq without Saddam.
Did you know those NFZ's were illegal from the start? Two members of UNSC - China and Russia did not agree to the NFZ's.
I think the United States should of went into Iraq early to set up humanitarian aid stations in the No Fly Zones to take care of the civilians. This way we should able to by-pass this corrupt Regime and Saddam wouldn't be building UN Palaces for Oil.
UN Sanctions didn't work back then and they don't work now. Clinton had his priorities mixed up and now we are paying for it with US service members being killed everyday in Iraq.
To tell the truth when Clinton went into Kosovo...I didn't know what was going on. I think the Kosovo conflict was a Politically Correct war.
People who supported the Clinton Administration fighting the Serbs thought KLA was dismantled by Madame Albright's leadership.
KLA just went underground to get rid of the Serbs with US and NATO help. Since then KLA has re-emerged to help the Islamic movement worldwide. They have a very profitable gun, drug and sex trade going on in that region.
We will pay for it later.
Good post....I was in kosovo from 1999 to 2004, actually It was my only home that time. I was security chief for the eastern region in Kosovo the entire time.
We had an agenda to break into the Balkans since 1948, witht he Balle Kombetar movement, revivied from the days of the Nazi invasion and link up with the Albanian nazi divisions that formed to kill Serbs and jews. Frank Wisner Sr was a part of the Operation Fiend to continue the campaign. It was part of the Military Industrial Complex to squeeze into position for many reasons to include the oil reserves in the Caspian, as only one of many reasons. Independent Kosovo was always the goal of the U.S......per quotes by Holbrooke and strategy for decades. We helped to fuel the break up starting in Croatia and Bosnia by bringing 10,000 + Jihaders from Afghanistan working with ISI, Iranian Intell, Saudi Intell and Turkish Intell heading to Kosovo. We used exaggerations and fabrications to justify our shadow campaign. You are correct, we covertly allowed the Albanian terrorist to cleanse the Serbs from 1999 to present as of now...and there are sinister plans for March 2007....big action yet to come.
