Most of the West African muslims were forced conscripts rounded up in the early days of the war by the colonial press gang, and most of these were not even mobilized by the time France surrendered in 1940. Meanwhile, most of the French colonials that actually did the fighting were from non-muslim colonies to the south and Madagascar. Most of the West African french colonies were under the control of the Vichy regime...and yes, they supplied Muslim soldiers to Hitler under the Legion des Volontaires Francais that was later incorporated into the Charlemagne Division of the SS, which defended against the final seige of Berlin.

Furthemore, I gave you the Sheck article, which states that there were 275,000 West African troops in World War 2. In a region that is 2/3rd Muslim that gives approx. 180,000 Muslim soldiers from west Africa alone.
