Without rancor or naming names, VP Cheney lets the Demoncrats and their stooges in the media have it between the eyes.

His words were wonderful. I'm sure they were very comforting to the family.

Both he and Lynne are awesome!
I often wonder how two extraordinary people like them could possibly have come out of the same small state small town high school.

Much better than I expected. Thw riter deserves an "A". Or is it a "T, for truth?"

I agree, Lynn IS awsome. I like her plainspoken attitude. They would have made a great first family. IMO, they are indicative of what you get in the wide open Western part of the country. People are less affected with themselves.

I think Bush should have been there.

Would have it been appropriate? It was one thing with Reagan, but Ford was a former leader in the Congress, and it seemed that even with the other notables there, it was an event orchestrated by the Congress for a former member. I don't recall the other former Presidents being there either.

No "I"'s in this euology. Absolutely close to one of the best pieces I have read on FR. Cheney and Ford are and were two very classy individuals.

If not at the funeral, present to greet the family at Blair House as he did with the Reagan family.

When he stepped up to the podium we knew we were in for an inspirational moment. We have always loved and admired Dick Cheney. In our early years of marriage we both wished for him to run for the Presidency.

Actually it is not that small. I graduated there 15 years after Dick did and there were 580 people in our graduating class (which means over 2000 people). Casper was then a city of over 45000 and there was only one high school in the county. During that time there were a lot of interesting characters in Casper as there were many oil speculators and those in the oil business were making big bucks. My Dad was actually Lynne Cheney's doctor for a short while. In fact he was also Red Skelton's wife's doctor for a while as she was also from Casper.

VP Cheney is simply magnificent in the manner he paid tribute to Pres. Reagan and now Pres. Ford. His portrayal of how Pres. Ford selflessly did the right thing for the sake of the country by pardoning Nixon is so beautiful. Pointing out that he did so at the cost of losing his own chance at election shows great leadership. Ford was a moderate and not a revolutionary. But, he was a man of impeccable character and held the country together through a very rough time. Thanks Mr. Cheney for putting history in its proper perspective. I am sure some people in the Rotunda tonight were a bit uncomfortable to hear it so simply and correctly.

As I would expect, Mr. Cheney's words are incredibly eloquent and supremely uplifting. May God bless this man too as He has blessed Mr. Ford.
