I let my curiosity get the better of me . . . it's not that bad, in fact it's less disturbing than electrocution. It was quick, and bloodless. And I understand now the importance of the placement of the knot as described by August Pierrepoint, the long-time British hangman.

But aside from that, justice has indeed been served. With all due respect to the Cardinal of my Church who criticized this, there was no other remedy - in prison he would simply have acted as a magnet for plots and jailbreaks. And had he not been hanged swiftly, his victims' blood would have cried out from the ground.
